Show me your pendant lights in your kitchen

Hi Kitchen-doers,

Show me some pendants. Ideas of them or ones you love.

My DH thinks we should have one above our window.

Here is a pic of my window. I think one mini pendant

above sink area. What do you think?

I thought I was a cottage country style but when

I took a silly style test on HGTV it says I am

craftsman. I do not like those pendants for this kitchen.

I think I am modern cottage style. If this is possible.

Help me choose a light that would work here.

Keep in mind this counter is going to be jet mist

and the angle has changed, double ovens are sold,

uppers above old doubleOs are back to 12 inches deep.

Faucet will be brushed SS.

Should I go with Red or is that too much?

sorry I haven't learned how to post pics so they just show up like yours do. I would just do two or three pendants over the eating area, not over the sink as well.

I love the beautiful art glass minis, but I've seen a few too many of them and they don't really work in my large, mission style space. But I wanted something with some color and impact, a tradtional but unusual look. So I'm going with these: There's a matching 4 light as well. I have the 16-light Ribbon Chandelier from PLC. I ordered it from a local light shop. I think it fits the modern/clean feel of my kitchen while adding a bit of whimsy. The arms can be bent so that you can shape the light however you like. Right now it's still fairly compact, but I'll eventually play with it a bit more and pull some of the ribbons out to give it more of an unstructured look. badgergal - too cool! I googled tech lighting otto and your lovely curved kitchen came up in the first few pictures, which I recognized immediately. I had never noticed your pendants before; always too focused on your amazing cabinetry. boopadaboo- I have very similar lights, thank you for posting. I too like to match things. elphaba, chispa - thanks but we have the Cree 2700K (warmer) cans. In some spots, I like them a lot. In others (where there's lots of surrounding white/light colors), I don't as much. Still, these may have been in the days when they were new and we were paying ~$70/can. I have no doubt that the much cheaper ones available at the big box stores now have warmer lighting.... clairebuoyant - very nice to see other pictures of the cable lighting, thanks. I really like this idea. Here's a picture from tonight of the proposed area. The ceiling would be approximately 6.5 - 7 feet wide at the highest area, which I think would be quite nice with the cable lighting.

I really like your kitchen and lights FlyingHigh! My pendants are hubbardton forge - forget the model name but they shouldn't be hard to find. The glass type is sand and I have the optional slate plates on the top where it attaches to the ceiling for a tie in to the backsplash. (wow, its been a year now since I was buying this stuff and I've already forgotten the terms). You could probably have your tile guy make those plates for far less money and get a perfect matche with your backsplash so long as he has the right equipment to drill holes in the tile.

Would the pot light above the sink be staying? If yes, it doesn't look like you have much room....I'm not sure that, given the nice width of your window, that a single mini one would have the right weight. I wonder what three (maybe at different heights??) would look like - if they were slim? Or a single that branches out? I saw a few with lovely paper whites (is that the name of that shell?) - cascading, pretty, in the white family...I'll hunt on line

Okay, not sure why I thought the name of the shell was the same as the flower....seems that the correct name is capiz. Might be fun to incorporate a bit of glam into the kitchen - here's a link to a pendant - saw some that were black and white - also cool. also saw such lights at Home Depot.

Here are mine...2 above the sink and 2 above the peninsula...

(Before paint, etc...but it's a daylight and you can see the pendants better)

Kitchenkelly a garden webber did this and it seems similar
to my space. Not sure though. Chloesmom, I am changing the lighting. potlight is soon to be gone.

Here is the shell light you mentioned.

Here is a close up of our pendant lights. They were super inexpensive at $20 each from Lowes. I had looked around forever for something to match our Restoration Hardware ceiling lights and was so happy to find these. They came with a frosted glass shade that I swapped out for a smaller optic glass shade to match our other lights.

Is the hardware black? or a dark bronze color?
I would love it if it were black.

Hi boxerpups,

I'm glad you like them. I do think they would look nice in your space. I love that they are pretty without being too overwhelming. They are nice and small... which I had a hard time finding something I liked (with the right price because we needed 5). Since we were putting them up in multiple, I didn't want something too big.

They are a dark bronze, which I think blends nicely with our dark grayish/black counters. I'm sure you could spray paint them with a matte black if you wanted them to be a true black. Luckily at $19, you could test one.

Here is photo of the pendants as they came originally... the original shades were a bit bigger in diameter. The clear glass shades I ended up swapping were also from Lowes for $3. If I remember correctly, they may have been in the section with the glass bathroom shades (on the same aisle as the rest of the lights at our Lowes).

I stumbled across the Schoolhouse electric showroom during a business trip to Portland this week. I fell in love!

Since I'm not in OR I would have to order, did you order online? Where there any issues?

I think the bling one is so pretty but I don't think I can make it fit with West Indies inspired bar stools, a vintage bakers table, and a traditional table and chairs! If I could I would though.... :-) There's always bathroom lighting!

Still a work in progress. Probably overdid it with the lighting, but it's a HUGE improvement over the cave I cook in now. I also have a 45 degree peninsula.

Ignore the photoshopped counters - I'm trying out different colors :)

We are in the process of remodeling our small cottage kitchen and have chosen these pendents (red!) to go over the peninsula. The glass is a Murano glass. We have recessed lights over the sink and counter areas just like you have in the photo. Our colors are white cabs, black Caesarstone countertops and red is the accent color. I notice a little red in your kitchen as well as what looks like a red sofa in the foreground - so red pendents would look really spiffy I think but then I'm partial to red. The pendents are from Tech Lighting and the name is Firefrost. They are very pretty in person. Good luck!
