pool shark cleaner

With everything else I have to buy being a new pool owner, I am not looking to break the bank. Based on the last 3 weeks, it looks like my pool wont be getting terribly dirty. I was thinking about holding off on even getting one and just vacuuming, but then I saw I can get a brand new pool shark on ebay, after $50 mail in from Pentair for $230.

Is this a cleaner that is fairly maintenence free, will last and works well? any info appreciated....

You are making a big mistake in buying this cleaner. Cheap now = failure soon.

RG - I never said I was buying it yet - that's why I posted this. I read some old posts that you really like the pool cleaner. I just wanted to hear from some shark owners if there are any on here. I'll keep the money and put it toward the pool cleaner.

I seen that one but never heard of any personal reviews, most of the reviews is the ones I read online. Are you talking about the one that cleans both carpet and hardwood? I believe that is the one that uses cold water instead hot water. Here is a link that might be useful: Review from About.com

Hi, we are currently trying CLR, but not fixed yet. I think hubby will have to take the machine apart & see if there is a blockage. Thanks for the suggestion of vinegar though.

From a rebuilding standpoint, it's a pretty lousy sweep. It is a gear driven device that for lack of a better term, ratchets to more a main gear. I've rebuilt so many of them and they are very prone to repair.

I have had this cleaner for 3 summers and have had to have it repaired 2 times. It is what came with the pool. When he is working, he cleans the floor and walls very well and i have a large/deep pool. Will be purchasing a new cleaner the next time he goes down. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
