Ooo, I think that is too tricky to try to deal with yourself. Sorry to tell you, but I think I'd rather part with the co-pay than risk damaging my ear.

Is there anyone available, a neighbor maybe, who can look and see if the tip is visible? If so, can they use tweezers to pull it out?

Otherwise you need to see a doctor or PA to have it removed and your ear washed.

DGS Drew stuck a Leggo part in his ear last fall. DD took him to the clinic and the regular doctor wouldn't touch it. Too risky. He had to see an ENT. IF the Q-Tip is close to where you can have someone grab it do it, otherwise get to the local doc.
Do you have a county nurse? They could possibly remove it.

Too bad you live so far from me. I'm an old pediatric ENT nurse and you wouldn't believe what I've assisted the MD's to get out of children's ears. Be careful about doing it yourself or letting any unexperienced others try it. You don't want to puncture your ear drum with any "instrumentation". Nor do you want to cause any scratches to your ear canal that could potentially become infected. You could actually end up pushing it in further without a light to actually visualize it's position. Syringing with water may be a successful way of removing it also. Like any "job" - it will take seconds to do with the right tools. It could possibly only give you grief if you muck around blindly. Just don't leave it in your ear. Foreign bodies only become an irritant over time. If someone can't see it at the oriface of the ear -
the safest and quickest way to remove it would be to have it done by an MD with the right tools.

I would try taking a shower and letting water run into my ear and see if that will flush it out. Keep something under your ear so you will KNOW if it comes out, though.

I was having an ear problem recently and they tried to flush a ball of wax out of my right ear with a syringe. After about 20 tries, they gave up and told me to try at home in the shower. So I did and it came out fairly easily. Seems weird to let your ear fill with water on purpose, but it didn't hurt and it worked.

When my kids were younger and I suspected there was something in their ear, I'd put a few drops of warm hydrogen peroxide in the ear and whatever was in there would often bubble up to the surface. I say warm, because cold or cool peroxide made them feel a little dizzy.

I wish my SIL was available; I remember her telling me a couple years ago that the same thing happened to her. But I can't remember how she got the cotton out! She warned me: never buy your Q-Tips at the dollar store.

Footnote: they weren't Q-Tips which is a trademarked name. The dollar store and other stores sell cotton tipped swabs, which is the product she used. Pay the extra dollar and buy the quality item is what she told me.

Never put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear!

I had a bug fly in my ear once. I just took the sweeper and sucked it out.

Once, when my first daughter was a toddler, I looked and saw something red in her ear. Fearing trhe worst, that she had pushed something in there and ruptured her eardrum or ear canal, I took her to the pediatrician. He took a look, grabbed a tweezers and pulled out a piece of red yarn. I looked at it, asked my kid if she had done it and she said "yes" but then realized it was my own fauilt. I'm always doing crafts. Funny, I didn't exactly remember anything using red yarn. I do remember when my daughter started crawling, she'd grab anything off the floor and put it in her mouth. Once saw her at the playground nearly eat a cigarette butt. Kids. . .I guess I earned my gray hairs.
