May Table Runner

I have not done the applique stitching on this yet. I have been thinking of using a brown thread to match the shade of brown in the fabric or I am considering matching the thread color to each part of the applique. I think that brown would make the applique stand out from the background fabrics.I haven't made up my mind and would like your input on the color thread to use.

This table runner was made from a charm pack of Moda's Hushabye fabric. I made this one smaller than the last monthly table runner because I only had 42 squares and did not want to add other fabrics. I did buy some FQs for the applique that are not from that line of fabric.

I still enjoy making these monthly runners. The June runner will have watermelons on a neutral center with a green border.

I hope I'm not boring everyone with all my table runners.

You are not boring me with your table runners! I enjoy seeing them. I would definitely use brown on the pots, and maybe pink on the flowers, and perhaps a light aqua for the the meander. Aqua & brown is very trendy & pretty when subtle IMHO. Appliqueing with the matching colors of the pot & flowers will make them stand out against the all over light aqua meander. ~~ I think, but after you lay out the threads, you may not like the aqua.

I like the colors and the design. I won't give any advice on thread as I am hopeless about these things. Oh, and you'll never bore me with photos of your quilted things....I love to see them. TFS.

OMG (& I don't say that often) it's great, great, great. I'll make it unanimous, you should pls. keep it. The color & feel of it on your table w/ that candlestick, the color staging is excellent. Sorry, I think your daughter will need to find something else ;>) Can you pls. state the pattern or where you found it? I think I need to make this too, or something like it! artlover, We do offer table runners with our other custom work. We always have a lining or interlining (or both) inside ours. Since we usually make them reversible, too, the lining helps hide the fabric from showing through. Interlining or flannel just gives an extra plushness. The style and type of fabrics used is taken into consideration. Occasionally the fabric is so bulky we would skip the interlining and possibly the lining. They are not all simple to make, but can be. There are so many variations with trims, cording, several fabrics may be used, adding tassels on the ends, etc, can all make them quite expensive if it's all custom ordered. The one lyban has is pretty typical of the ones we make. We have a really neat looking one in the shop right now with little triangles (pennants) on the ends and polished stones sewn onto the ends! I sew too, but making a simple table runner has not always been easy if the fabrics stretch! I like cotton fabrics--some of polyesters can be a PIA.

I bought ready made curtains from Country Curtains for my DR and ordered matching fabric to have table runners made. I keep one on the DR table all the time, and use the other to protect my sideboard when I'm serving on it. Mine is a very simple, rectangular runner with no embellishment. I like that it pulls out colors from the rug that's under the table, and I think it enhances the wood on my tabletop. I have a nice pottery bowl in the center.

Beautiful runner, Loralee. Your daughter will love it. As for the photo issue, I just touch the Photo icon below the text box, which automatically accesses my computer files. Then I find the photo I want and touch Choose and it loads. Size doesn't seem to be an issue on Houzz as it is on some other sites. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I like the idea of matching thread to the applique piece, or maybe just a shade darker pink to help the flower pop. The background meander will make it stand out, too.

I love all pictures. The problem I have with it is that it makes me consider how nice it would be to have a new table runner every month, or a new wall hanging every month, and how that sounds really fun. Eeeep! My other projects are frowning at me.

Thank you for your suggestions. I hadn't thought of light aqua for the quilting, but I like that idea. I probably won't get to work on this until next week. DS and his DW are coming for the weekend so I won't be quilting.
