Have you tried to just go back to where you started and start over. I have had to do that.

If you aren't getting sound on any video, that is a whole 'nother problem.

BTW, do you have sound buttons,on your keyboard or monitor; if so try those. I have them on both, plus the little slider thing onscreen.

I had this same problem - tried everything to correct it, with no luck, until my son came to try and figure the problem out - we found that my grandson had plugged in his earphones and didn't unplug them - removed the earphones and the problem was instantly fixed! LOL.

I did a google.com search on your issue and found lots of sites with solutions.

that would affect all sound, in this situation she has sound on other sites just not on any video sites. That was why I wanted to check on other video sites.

try clearing the cache on your browser that can sometimes cause problems like this, if you do not know how to then let me know which browser you use and I can tell you, do you use Internet Explorer or firefox etc?

So do you hear music on music sites?

try going there and just click on any of the artists/songs and see if you hear the music.

I forgot to ask the most basic question have you tried rebooting the pc to see if it goes back to normal?

you could also check your speaker icon in the systray to make sure nothing there is showing muted and also on your video player.

I know that youtube started muting videos that used copyrighted material that was not authorized but that would not prevent the video on the link I provided from playing properly.

Not YouTube, but when I'm listening to books or music on ITunes, hitting the space bar will pause the file. Hitting the space bar will "un-pause" it. Did you try that?

Hi all! I did reboot, and that didn't help. I have sound at the music link you posted, Raven.

I notice there's a little red x in the box with the sound icon on YouTube videos (just to the right of the pause/play button). Something tells me this is significant. I'll try Googling. My son thought he had me well trained to do this first. :-)

In any case, I'd love to know how to clear my cache. I haven't figured out how to do it with this latest version of Firefox. I'm running Windows 7, if that helps. Thanks!

Okay, I feel stupid now. I just discovered that if I hover over the speaker icon a little slider pops out from the side. I moved the indicator to the right, and voila! I got sound.

that is great I am glad you were able to get it working.

to clear the cache in firefox click on tools then near the bottom click on clear recent history that opens a box where you can then select exactly what all you want to clear and note that there is a drop down list for a time period you can choose from.
