I make garlic bread...I guess you could sprinkle some grated cheese on top of this.

In a food processor, mix a stick of soft butter (not margarine) and 4-5 cloves of garlic(peeled), add some fresh oregano leaves.

Cut a steak roll in half, and liberally spread mixture on top.
Sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese (optional).
Then cook on low shelf in broiler, until slightly brown.

I make a bunch at a time, because they freeze real well.

I just take some butter (you can nuke it to soften it a bit) and a couple cloves (more if you're making a lot) of pressed garlic and mash/mix it together with a fork. Spread on your bread. Add lots of cheese; the more the merrier... really, just a little cheese is not enough (it will melt into the bread and you won't even notice it). Sprinkle with some paprika for color.

I usually just throw it in with the other sutff I'm cooking at the time. It doesn't take too long (5-8 minutes) for it to be done. Take it out when the cheese looks melted.

I have used the liquid garlic and butter (softened) mix really well and just spread on the french bread. sprinkle with cheese, (mozzarella and cheddar)My DH the fussy eater doesn't like it, he wants plain garlic toast!

I was just going thru recipes for this weekend and spied this, I saved it a year ago but haven't made it yet.

Gilroy Garlic bread
Ingredient -- Preparation Method

3/4 cup butter -- (1 1/2 sticks) room temp
3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (about 3
ounces)
6 tablespoons mayonnaise
3 large garlic cloves -- minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano -- (generous) crumbled
1 1 pound loaf French bread -- halved lengthwise
Thoroughly combine first 6 ingredients in medium bowl. (Can be prepared 2
days ahead. Refrigerate. Bring to room temp before continuing.)

Preheat oven to 375*. Spread garlic butter on cut side of bread, wrap each
half in foil. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Refrigerate.) Place bread on
baking sheet cut side up. Bake 20 minutes. Remove foil from bread.

Preheat broiler. Broil cut side up until golden brown, about 2 minutes.

This is a bread that is requested all the time. I get sick of making it but I aim to please.

Cheese bread

1 loaf french bread, sliced into 1.5" pieces

Mix the following together until smooth

1.5 sticks butter or margerine softened
1 small onion grated into fine pieces
1 teaspoon Beaumonde seasoning
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
Poppy seeds if desired

butter each side slice of bread both sides.
Put a 1/2 piece of sliced swiss cheese (the kind that comes individually wrapped) in between each slice. Put bread back together so it looks like a french bread again. Wrap tightly in foil and bake 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Grilled Cheese Bruschetta (Makes 6 slices)

6 slices Italian bread, cut into 1/2 to 3/4-inch slices

2 garlic cloves, cut in half

Extra virgin olive oil

6 slices fresh mozzarella cheese

Freshly ground black pepper

1 tsp. dried oregano

Preheat broiler.

Toast bread on both sides until lightly golden.

Remove bread from broiler and rub cut side of garlic over one side of each piece of toast.

Brush each slice with olive oil.

Top with a slice of mozzarella.

Sprinkle with black pepper and oregano.

Return to broiler and allow cheese to melt, 1-2 minutes.

Remove and serve.

This is my recipe.
1 loaf of french bread cut into 1.5" pieces. Mix 1 stick of butter and garlic salt (or 2 cloves of minced garlic). Spred on both sides of the bread slices. You may have to mix up more of this butter, depending on how much your making.
Then mix together grated romano, parmesan, and asigo cheese in equal parts, (I buy the tubs of each one) and put it on a plate. Take a slice of buttered bread and lay it in the cheese and press it down good, and coat both sides. While your doing this, heat a griddle or cast iron skillet to med. heat. Grill as many as the griddle will hold, like you would a grilled cheese sandwich, on both sides.
I get asked to bring this all the time too. It really is good.

I made garlic biscuits tonight for my company to go with the baked chicken and Caesar salad.

Preheat Oven 450 - bake 10-13 minutes.
2 cups bisquik
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (I always use more)

Drop dough on greased cookie sheet 3 tsps or 1 large blob to make 8 biscuits. Bake

While biscuits are baking melt 1/4 cup butter/add 2 cloves of pressed garlic and a 1/2 tsp or so of dry Ranch dressing mix (optional)

When biscuits are finished baking pour butter/garlic mixture over hot biscuits.

You could use garlic powder and low fat milk and cheese and margarine instead of butter also.

I make mine like the Gilroy recipe, minus the oregano. I don't do oregano or sage.

Stacy, do you remember the bread at the old Lindenloft's pizza place in Muskogee? It is made with sliced french bread spread with creamy italian dressing and sprinkled with garlic powder then heat in oven.
