Dances in Gardens???

I hate to ask, I know you're a busy gal, but geez I can't find my favorite black short sleeved shirt anywhere - do you happen to have it? It didn't end up with those darn pants did it?

I'm still looking for a pair of red shoes I lost about 4 years ago. While you're looking for Suzan's shirt, keep an eye out for my shoes. Gosh, I wish I'd known who I was supposed to blame all these years.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I have so enjoyed seeing photos of others' gardens in past years, so it's about time I shared mine! I have been working on my gardens since purchasing my home in 1999. Slowly but surely. Yes, Steve - too much grass! I have a running race with my nephew over who is going to get rid of their lawn mower first, and I do believe I am in the lead at this point! I have continued to enlarge gardens and install new gardens year by year. Moccasin, one of the bird boxes is designed specifically for blue birds, but it's too wooded here to attract them, although they are nearby. The other nesting boxes have been picked up at craft shows (I have several throughout my property) and are occupied by several different varieties, including chickadees, wrens and sparrows. Bernd, the watering system is ME! Some day I want to install a sprinkler system but not until the backyard has been laid out. In the meantime, I'm dragging hoses around during those timeframes when we don't have enough rain. It's been such a good summer, though, with plenty of well-timed rain that I have not had to water until the past three weeks. For some reason I have never really battled slugs here, although the cutworms sometimes make an appearance. I certainly do have my share of tree debris (excellent starter wood for my firepit) but the hostas haven't really been dramatically affected. Unfortunately, I do have several plants with nematodes - inevitable, particularly given all the carrier shade plants in my gardens. I have started to battle them with Bayer this year. Jenna & Paul, thanks for the suggestions on the NOID. Might well be Sagae. I do have Leading Lady nearby, and her shape and size is nearly identical, but her leaves are much darker with a whiter edge. It's just really been a great year for my gardens, and I am continuing to enjoy them into the fall. Hopefully, the hard frost will hold off a few more weeks!

Hi Dances (in an indoor garden, what with the snow, the cold, the wind and all - my landlord, who's quite acclimatized to the cold, was complaining about it this morning) I hope that you have a perfectly wonderful birthday .. one that you can remember with tankfulness for years (that was supposed to be "thankfulness!). If I remember correctly, when several who had been expected cancelled, there was some discussion of cancelling the party, but some of us, including me, suggested that we go ahead with it - that small crowds are fun. Okay... So I mentioned my problems with appetizers... Same deal with first courses. You're going to have to forgive me -- what I'm posting bears a little resemblance to a salad, but I wanted to post something T&T, and I also think given that the meal is heavy overall, this is a nice light starter. Zucchini Carpaccio 2-4 small to medium sized zukes (depending on how many people you want to serve) Small container of whole milk ricotta 1/2 cup pine nuts, toasted One bunch fresh mint 1-2 lemons fresh ground pepper, coarse salt extra virgin olive oil With a vegetable peeler, peel zukes into many ribbons, peeling the long way. Arrange artfully onto small plates. Add small dollops of fresh ricotta on top. Chiffonade the mint, and sprinkle liberally over top. Add lots of fresh ground black pepper and coarse salt, then squeeze fresh lemon juice on top and drizzle with good extra virgin olive oil. Finish with a healthy sprinkling of the toasted pine nuts. And while your looking, I am missing a pair of favorite earings. Little dangly gold and blue upside down cups sorta thingy with a white oval bead inside the cups. You will know them when you see them. They aren't very big, so you will have to really look in every nook and crannie! Lost them in 2001 when touring Canada, so the must be at your house.

Whenever anything went missing in our house when the kids were little, they would always deny misplacing it and say that The Borrower's took it! Now we know where our missing items really are...at Dances' house, lol!

Oh, you guys really think you are funny eh? *Rolling eyes* Sheesh! Tee hee!

I did another quick check of the house. I did not find any of the aforementioned items. I did however find some other things. If they sound like they might belong to you, let me know and I will send them out as soon as possible:

1. About 50 granola bar, fruit roll up, and other assorted snack packages under the couch. Nice and sticky. DH and DD claim innocence. So they must belong to somebody else. I don't eat that stuff and Ruby has no thumbs to open the packages (none of them were gnawed open).

2. A handful of lint covered black jelly beans found under a couch cushion. I guess I know what flavour is least liked in this house.

3. Several pairs of rather large white cotton granny undies found in my "delicates" drawer. Those couldn't POSSIBLY belong to me.

Let me know if any of that sounds familiar!

Well, the sticky packaging can't be mine. My dentures don't allow sticky stuff. The black jelly beans wouldn't be mine either. The black ones are my favorite. Did you look closely at all these sticky things...my earings maybe could be stuck to them. Now, the cotton granny undies might be mine. Do they have little pink flowers on the waist band and are big enough to fit an elethant? Yes, you say? Well then they couldn't be mine either.

Pawsitive - was that yours? I'm sorry, we have been using it as a bird bath. Or rather, it landed in the yard upside down and nobody claimed it, then it rained and filled with water. My neighbour kindly told us that it was going to become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. I deadpanned that I was going to put goldfish in it. I love yanking that guys chain ;).
