Proper equipment, pricing and design of new pool

Hey, I'm a noobie to the forum and building a pool, so howdy to all!

We're getting as many quotes as possible and it seems like 2 out of the 7 came up with the same design and basic decking layout. One appears to be a "Master PB" and the other a formidable former owner and now a PB forman. Everybody uses different equipment, pumps, cleaners etc. Is Hayward better then Jandy, Is a pool shark cleaner better than others? I'm getting quotes for an 18x36 lagoon in ground w/heater, salt generator, tanning seat, 4 sconces, coping, steps, LED lights, remote control and other minor items for $52,000 in Rockland County NY. Is this the average price for a pool today? I won't go on yet, just need some advice before taking the "plunge" and my crazy 8 ball is missing! My gut says to go with the guys that I seem to "click" with, the master PB who has won several awards on designs and builds. What do you guys think?
