How to get rid of yellow jackets around pool?

We finally have our pool finished. (I would post photos, but can never figure out how to do that here!) My kids are loving the pool, and I'm finding it to be a great addition to our home. When entering the pool, we've been finding a lot of dead bees, spiders (some live ones, too) and lots of yellow jackets in the skimmer. Today a #*$%@ yellowjacket got underneath my tee shirt and stung me -- I hate stinging insects! Anyway, I'm glad it stung me, rather than my kids, but how do I get rid of these things? My dh says so many workers, machines, back-hoes, etc. have been through our yard for the past two months and that there are no nests around, but I beg to differ. One thing that I wonder about is the the stone retaining wall. It's the square-ish lock in place stones. I've seen one yellow jacket crawl in the crack on the wall and then i sprayed wasp killer in that crack. Obviously there are more! Any tips for this new pool owner? TIA - Tracy
