Easy Touch Question for Repair Guy

Hi Repair Guy

I'm asking my PB to install the following and intergrate them into an Easy Touch IC40. Can the IC40 control all of the following or do I need to pick 4 out of the 5?

Pentair IntelliChlor

(2)Pentair IntelliBrite lights

Intelliflo VS pump

Booster Pump

New non pentair heatpump

#1 The IC40 is an IntelliChlor. Go for the ET8 IC40
#2 If you have the latest version, 2.01
#3 Yes
#4 Yes
#5 Yes, I see no reason why not. Any gas heater would connect so I assume any heat pump would. We don't do heat pumps here.

Repair Guy-

There is a big price jump from the EasyTouch 4PSC-IC40 to the EasyTouch 8PSC-IC40 about $420, and the 4PSC is already in my agreement with my PB. Can I control the following with the 4PSC-IC40?

1. SWG
2. (2)Pentair IntelliBrite lights
3. Intelliflo VS pump
4. Booster Pump
5. New non pentair heatpump

Whats wrong with the heat pump?

I have the noma model #2454550 which has been great but I need to replace the worm gears. The dealer said they were made of brass and it would be easier to change out the whole gear box except they don't seem to sell them! The question I have is, can someone tell me how to get the auger assembly removed? Maybe the two pins by the second auger need to be removed which I don't see how I can! Any help would be greatly appreciated. They say that until you fix a thing , you are merely renting it! Haha X

Repair guy--thanks for the explanation. Mine is an IC-40. I saw your post on 'solar' suggesting that it is best to plumb the solar return in after the heater as it reduces back pressure. I couldn't think of any situation where I would want to run the hot water from solar through the heater so I switched mine over yesterday and the difference is dramatic. The way it was originally set up the solar return went through a Pentair Master Temp and at 2200 rpms on my intelliflo 160X4 I was only getting 20 gpm through the solar panels. After the re-plumbing I get 40 gpm. Pressure at the panels stayed at about 2-3 psi and around 10psi at the sand filter. This means I can reach my target of 30 gpm with 1800-2000 rpm or even less, and save considerably on energy consumption. Thanks for that suggestion. On a different note: can I use my easy touch 8 to control 24v irrigation valves? If so how would I go about hooking that up? I'm reluctant to call back my electrician as he didn't wiring things correctly to begin with. At the moment I have several available aux relays or are these only for high voltage? Thanks again. Frank I have a similar setup as yours: solar-only in pool-mode and solar-preferred for the spa-mode. In my case, since my kids can turn the spa on and off several times a day (more so for the jets and bubbles), I wanted an "easy" way to limit when the gas heater was used (i.e. not having to go through the setup menus). Instead of powering the gas heater from the pump relay, I have the gas heater connected to one of the auxiliary relays and control it from one of the function buttons on the remote, along with a 20-minute egg-timer schedule to limit runtime. So when I want to heat the spa (and the system is calling for gas heat) all I do is press the associated function button to power up the gas heater. Now my kids can enjoy the spa whenever they want, without emptying my propane tank and wallet. Another reason I setup my spa this way is that sometimes I "plan" on using the spa later in the day, and want to use the solar to preheat the spa water as much as possible, again to minimize gas usage. This allows the spa water to heat using solar only without the concern of the gas heater turning on.

Easy Touch with Pool+Spa+Spillway?

Set your run cycle with a circuit type of spillway. Spillway For pool/spa combinations where the spa is raised above the pool. This setting moves the return valve so that the filter pump pulls the water from the pool and returns it to the spa, creating a water fall effect. Automatic pool cleaners are turned off when this feature is turned on.

Nothing wrong with a heat pump. They don't work here in so cal. No humidity.

IMO if you spend that much money on automation, you should get something that can expand if you have plans later to add light, etc. You can't do that with an ET4 and what you want to control. You are tapped out with this system but it will work.

I really don't think we will have a need to go beyond what is planned. The pool will be rather far from the house and won't get much night activity.
