I think the shade looks too small for the lamp base. I'd try a larger one. I also would remove the photo (you can count the candles as 1 accessory to keep an odd number) and put an artificial plant under the table to hide the cord and outlet.

I think I'd prefer to see a taller lamp, to my eye the one you have is too short and the shade too small. I agree with Patty0315, you need to go with an odd number of accessories, but am the reverse on which. I think that's a nice spot for a family photo, so I'd remove the other item sitting next to it.

Looks like everything on the table is dwarfed in comparison to the size of the table and the pictures on the wall.

I think the size of the pictures determine the proportion. The table is a good length, but it is more delicate, so I think items that have some bulk to them on the table would look best. I think you could use the lamp with a bigger shade and have it combined with other items that have more bulk. Even a plant if there is any light for it or a larger photo you want to display. Maybe a vase that has an accent color thats in the pictures.

Thanks, everyone! Interestingly, I thought the shade was too small and returned it to the store this morning - the wrong shade was placed on the lamp!!! Here is a picture of the correct shade. Sorry, I do not know how to transfer pictures from a web site into a picture on the Forum.

I will work on this and repost when I get the new shade which will give the lamp more substance. I like the 17" height and with the right shade, I think it will work. I don't want the lamp to conflict with the picture. I will find more substantial items around the house for the tabletop. Good suggestions, everyone!

I might add, this delicate mahogany table is very narrow - measuring 12" deep and 39" long. What is going on with the Forum? I keep getting message rejected and to change the subject line? I respond to my posts and never change the subject line, but now it is requesting this???

That's a pretty cute lamp, Dorry, & it does look better with the right shade. When lamps aren't quite high enough, I have seen them placed on a few books, which can look quite nice.

Try wrapping the cord so that all the bulky cord showing
is behind the table...you can tape the excess cord
behind the table with duct tape.

Nice lamp, and the books/whatever suggestion is a good one to make it work. Natal's point that the art is pretty heavy in scale compared to the dainty table and small decor probably a more basic one. The art could be placed in thinner and lighter frames, but I'm wondering how the dainty scale of that grouping would then weigh against the rest of the room. Or perhaps there are some appropriately weighty features off to the sides on that wall so it does all work well?

I've have a table similar to yours in my foyer. Originally, I had a smaller lamp and used one book to give it a bit of height. A taller orchid was used on the other end of table and a small trio of carved Asian men between.

I only use one piece above the table (a mirror). I think the two pieces of artwork dwarf your table. Can you hang one over the table and the other close by?

I also use Joann's trick, pulling the extra cord behind the table, but use the wide blue painters tape instead of duct tape (gummy residue).

The trick is to have the table, accessories and artwork weighted correctly visually.

I think the table is too short. The pictures should not extend beyond the table they are topping.....

The table is out of proportion to the prints. It is too small for its intended purpose. Can you hang the pictures vertically, one atop the other? The width of the table is right for that arrangement.
