Haven't heard of those, but we have xenon and YEs they are on a dimmer.

I just looked yours up through the link you posted. It says right there that they are dimmable. :)

I keep hearing that xenon lights get hot but mine never have.

Two 18Watt bulbs won't feel too hot to touch.

Together they produce 500 lumen. The two bulbs are in a unit 13" long.

In fluorescent, the same power (number of Watts) produces 2000 lumen stretched over a greater distance, a couple feet.

I'm not too familiar with lighting terms such as the lumen. But since it only produces 500 lumen vs 2000 lumen does it mean the lights I'm looking at will not be bright? Or what does that mean exactly?

I think this is what we need for the kitchen. We were told we didn't need the light bar to extend to the full length of the cabinets. Is this true?

2 - 13" light bar with 2 lights (for under corner lazy susan and 24 inch cabinet. $66 each

2 - 26" light bar with 4 lights (for under 2 - 36" cabinets) $95 each

1 - 39" light bar with 6 lights (for under a span of two cabinets for a total of 52") $109

Also, should I use these same lights for above the cabinet or is the rope lighting a better option?

I hve wac xenon light bars but mine are line voltage. I did not realize they did lowvoltage. MIne are not dimmable but have a high and low setting. I believe they were described to me as dimmable but again they have only the high low setting which is fine for me. They provide plenty of light on high. They get hot; when they are on it is the favorite place for the cats to hang out. I left them on with a candle underneath for the better part of an afternoon and when I checked the candle it had melted as if it had been lit. In the pantry the light bar doesn't extend fully, 24" for a 33" upper cab.
I do like how thin they are and the light is very nice.

Note that because they are low voltage, you'll need to get a special dimmer made for low voltage control. They're typically a bit more expensive.

I think what davidro1 is trying to say is that you'd get 5X the light for the same amount of power consumption if you used fluorescent. Here is a fairly basic explanation of what a lumen is.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think low vs. line makes any difference in the heat produced by the light.

This is right smilingjudy. The heat will be the same.

Also, yes, with fluorescent you get four or five times more light for the same power.
On top of that, since the power is making more light, guess what??? Less energy is spent on making heat.
Fluorescents make more light and correspondingly less heat.
The watts consumed make less heat and more light.

On the WAC web site I saw fluorescents, Xenons, and LEDs.
The latter make the least light, even when you group a bunch of them into a puck.
On the WAC web site it says so too.

Lumen are units measuring light.

A body can get used to anything except a pebble in your shoe, so you may not care how much light you have on your counter.
It may be a moot point.

Thanks for the clarification.

The husband does not like the fluorescents because the ones we found do not dim. We've found another brand that makes the Xenon Low Voltage lights also dimmable. Which ones does everyone like better? We have to order by Monday as we're running out of time before the project starts. =(
