Things I remember...........

Looking at Syd's graduation pictures got me to thinking...

I've been at the KT for a bit, and the things I remember:

Syd being afraid to go to school

Kathgarden and her going to school (college, but still), and encouraging her on some of her bad days

Steph finally getting preg with Grant

Danielle's Hubby posting about Annie not nursing (why I remember that I don't know but I do)

I remember when Cherry Fizz got Loki

Sad times when people have lost loved ones (I won't post who incase I got names wrong)both from long illnesses, and unexpecidetly. I would cry while reading the post. DH didn't understand until he met some of them, and they became real to him.

All the babies...the waits were so long, but the babies so beautiful

Mostly though I remember all the people who were here for me when I've needed them. Hey this post wasn't suppose to end up sappy, it was to be HAPPY! I need more HAPPY remember whens people...

The hilarious stories I've read here, like the Lucy threads, and stories by Dottie (Ima TwoSacker). Grandma Bonnie posting that she prayed if Grif would survive leukemia, she would take his place...then he was ok, and she got cancer and left us.
Learning photography with my first digital camera and posting pictures here as I learned, when Emma was a baby (she turned 9 this month!).
Sharing the ups and downs of life.
The fabulous people I've met here and gotten to meet in real life.
Ed, Shelba's DH, what a big, loving teddy-bear of a man. I see guys that remind me so much of him.
Vickey, isn't it something how real our on-line friends can be? And sometimes they turn into 3-D friends, too, as an added bonus.

My mother was not treated well when she was a child. She was given away when she was four years old. I don't know the exact circumstances....how much it was discussed or anything like that. She was illegitimate....and I am sure that was much more frowned upon when she was born in 1904 than it is now. She said she was playing in a ditch in front of her house and a well to do man in the community drove by in his wagon. He asked her mother to give her to him. And she did. Like I said...I don't know how much thought went into that...or anything else about it, but she had a very difficult childhood and was treated more like a servant. She was never legally adopted and didn't inherit anything from that family. I do know that it stayed with her forever. The last words she ever said to me were, "When I was four years old, my mother gave me away." She was 97 and had been bedridden for several years. She didn't know anyone....didn't talk very much. But that was the last words she ever said to me. I am often surprised at how motherly she turned out to be, not having a good role model. So, I know it can be done, and Moni and those who didn't have a close relationship with your mothers, I think it is wonderful that you were able to over come that and have a close bond with your children.

I have had so many I lost track, but I have a positive history. I had to follow a cancer protocol. At first I had another after 6 months, then once a year for a few years, then three years, and now 5 years. My history started at age 38. I most definitely would not be here alive today if I had not insisted on having one done at 38. I made a believer of my gastroenterologist. When you have a nagging feeling that something is wrong stand your ground! I have had several types of preps but I have absolutely refused to do the golytly gallon drink. I also stand up for the type of prep I will do and with as much experience as I have I know what works best for me. I did like the pills and I knew to take them as prescribed with the proper amount of water. Unfortunately because of some people having negative reactions not many doctors use them now. My latest one a little over a year ago was one of the newer split preps it was nasty tasting but I always chill it and use ice, a straw and hold my nose as I suck down as much as possible. Then immediately rinse my mouth with water. It really does work. I also always start taking a stool softener, NOT laxative!, 2 nights prior to the prep. It makes the movement much easier and less painful. Not being able to eat is difficult. I also buy my favorite soup from a restaurant and strain it for just liquid. I stock up on Popsicles. Depending on the Iv drug cocktail I might or might not remember anything. The latest version I didn't need to get Phenergan in the mix but I used to become extremely nauseous upon waking up and would vomit, with risk of aspiration. Demerol does that to me. So they knew to add some Phenergan to the Iv. It's not a fun process but I am alive because I did it! That's a very powerful statement. I will stand on a soapbox any day to help get that message across. I was 38 and the doctor said I probably would not have seen 40. I had no definitive symptoms, I had no blood, I had stools shaped like a U, a deep groove down the center. That was caused by the extremely large growth in my lower colon. My doctor decided he would go along with me just to make me feel better. He was shocked. Please get your colonscopy done.

Marlen...thanks, Jaybird. I had one of those senior moments and wanted to mention her, but could not for the life of me think of her name.

I remember Kathleen's "pre-nursing school" postings and how proud I have always been of her for getting through all that stuff!

I found the KT in 1998 when I was looking for a refrigerator for my first home (bought all by myself :-). Found the appliance forum and then stumbled onto this one.

Ya'll have kept me company in three states. "watched" me get married, complete an MPH (and eventually will be a PhD), helped me be a better mommy to three kitties, and all kinds of stuff!

When I was in my MPH program, I worked odd hours and loved to meet up with KT folks at the chat room.

There are so many great things to rememeber. Bonny Granny stands out most. What a wonderful woman she was.
And who could ever celebrate July 4th without thinking of Marlen!
I remember logging on one morning to learn that Stacy's house had burned down. How sad that was.
And how could I forget the first ever online baby shower for Steph when she was pregnant with Grant. That was the most amazing thing. There were over 65 KT members that participated in that. It was so fun!

I think Bonnie Granny was the first one I got "attached" to.

Ruthie was the one who informed Me and many others about 9-11.

Our first MN get together where we learned that everyone was pretty much normal. Not an ax-murderer amoung us!

All those beautiful babies born and now they are half grown already.
