Casey, I watched The Shipping News on dvd last night. I had read the book a long time ago and loved it. The movie was pretty good too (nice that I got it for $2. at a yard sale as well!). Was that filmed in Newfoundland, do you know?

Yes Lydia, it was filmed in Newfoundland, close to Trinity if you want to look it up on a map. There were lots of "star" sightings when it was filming. Apparently Kevin Spacey brought his bodyguards with him but sent them home after a day or two when he realized he didn't need them here in Newfoundland. He, Julianne Moore and Judith Dench stayed at "The Fisher's Loft", an inn in Trinity. Apparently the cooks let Dame Dench in the kitchen and taught her how to bake bread, which she had never done before.
