Bathroom Faucet

Background: We have remodeled our main bath. Most everything is perfect except for the selection of sink faucet. The motif of choice is brushed nickel. I selected the MOEN Adler 4-in. Single Handle Low-Arc Bathroom Faucet in Spot Resistant Brushed Nickel (Model #CAL84502SRN).

Problem: We have invested quite a lot on a solid granite countertop and a custom built solid cherry vanity cabinet. The lever to raise and lower the sink stopper is located in BACK of the faucet. I had occasion to test it recently by pouring a small amount of water on top of the faucet (not an uncommon occurrence with children and grandchildren using the faucet). The water leaked through the hole housing the lever and dripped down into my expensive cabinet. This is NOT acceptable. I wrote the company to see if they sold a brushed nickel plug to place in the hole in lieu of the lever. I'd be perfectly happy to operate the stopper mechanism by hand and not use the fixture's lever. They do not have such a plug. The fixture was purchased at HomeDepot. I have searched the websites of HomeDepot, Lowes and most other internet sellers of bathroom fixtures and have not been able to find a brushed nickel single handle faucet with a ZERO probability of leakage into the vanity cabinet below. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP???

I can see water being sprinkled over the lever by children and collecting around the faucet, but I wonder whether there is as much water precisely going down that hole as when you poured it.

One way you could deal with it is to tape a small cup in the cabinet - such as a plastic butter or yogurt container - below the opening and catch the water. (Not the solution you are asking for, I know. I will keep thinking about this.)

I just poured a little water down ours (which is on the back of the faucet) and it ran down the connection under the sink as well. Maybe you can put some silicone around it. But, like Graywings said above, the bit of water that accidentally gets onto it is not going to be as troublesome as pouring water over it.

Not sure what your criteria is for "better". If you mean the actual quality of a faucet, that will depend on the brand as some brands are higher quality than other brands. I have a wide spread faucet in my bathroom and I like it very much both functionally and aesthetically. I guess there are some people who prefer one lever to control temperature but I don't find that to be an issue in my bathroom. In my kitchen I do have a one lever faucet because I don't want to need to use both hands to control the temperature in the kitchen since it isn't as functional.

do a wallmount faucet It will break up some of that vertical height of the mirrors. (unless your mirrors are down to the countertop? BTW, if your sink is deep enough, splashing shouldn't be a concern. if the sink is shallow, you'll be wiping up water continually.

I would like to replace a 2 handle bathroom faucet with a 1 handle faucet with a long handle and long spout. Do you have any recommendations for such a model (for which a deck plate/escutcheon is available)? I want to ensure that my hands don't hit the back of the sink when I'm washing my hands. When I was living in Israel, I had a Turkish faucet with a long handle, but I don't remember the brand name, and I'm guessing Turkish faucets are difficult to come by in the US. I'd appreciate your advice. thanks!

@Diana Beir , LLC & Sabrina Alfin Interiors , @Skippack Tile & Stone Yes It's a " Powderoom " & I agree the faucet looks a little large for thst sink. I actually didn't pick out the sink. I'd have gone with something different but we had to have it specially ordered bc its such a small space. I thought it would be bigger which is why I got so nervous when I saw the faucet on there. I also agree the walls need something ? Thst makes it look "flat" Wallpaper or paint ( which not sure what I'd do there ?) Like entioned add in a big bold mirror? Idk something " artzy" but classic looking ? This faucet has been the toughest choice in the whole house! I had no idea what I was going for & was being pressed for time. I had a chance to switch it to a champagne bronze like my kitchen but I wanted something a little different after I thought it over ...& over again! I need to end this part. Thanks for all the great tips ! I hope it will look ok even though faucet is little too big ! The Spout doesn't exceed from the drain" too much" just a tiny tiny bit? @ptreckel?

All my faucets have the lever in back and I've never had any damage to my cabinets from water leaking down the lever. I think it's highly unlikely that anyone will be reaching that far back with wet hands to turn the water on and off and if someone decided to use the lever, they probably have dried their hands before they reached back to open the stopper for drainage.

From my observation, kids tend to just grab the edge of the handle when using that type of handle. Plus, the design of the faucet handle allows any water droplets to drain back toward the sink.
