Website needed for book making

My daughter is pregnant and due in two weeks - so any day now. I want to give my future grandchild something homemade from me but since I don't do anything crafty, I decided I'd do a journal of my daughter's pregnancy. It's about 15 pages or so right now. Now that it's getting to the due date, I'm not sure how to present this to my daughter.

Fast forward to now and I had a brainstorm to put it in a book sort of like a shutterfly picture book. But when I checked shutterfly, it just seems to be mainly for a picture book. So does anyone know a way to put this in book format. Orginally, I thought I'd just put it in a 3 ring binder but now I'm thinking that maybe I can do a book of some type. I have a couple of pictures but it is mostly words. While I love a bookwith pictures, I thought it would be fun to put down our thoughts, feelings, what mom has said to me during her pregnancy. I think my daughter will love it no matter how I put it together.

So what's your thoughts? Should I just put in a 3 ring binder or is there a website out there that I can put a book together?

You can use the photobook places to do just text. Check for deals at www.retailmenot.. sometimes first time buyers can get a large percentage off of the price.

I've used Shutterfly among others, but Mixbook is my favorite.

Is your daughter doing a scrapbook for the baby's book? I think that would be a great place to put it. I woud just give here the typed or written pages an ask her to include them there.

I did my own own scrapbooks for my babies. Each one is different depending upon whatever ideas, creativity, and time, I had available. I made sure to include sections on getting ready for baby including ultrasounds, cravings, and belly shots. I would have loved if one of the grandparents had made their own section.

If you search back through the archives on this forum, there are some lengthy and informative threads on this topic. The bottom line, as I recall, was "lotsa luck." Weeping or threadleaf Japanese maples need to be grafted, which is a difficult skill to learn. Growing maples could be a fun sideline, but it sounds like it would be a tough way to earn money.

Hope we don't go too far down the history and restoration road, leaving renewal and renovation behind. Anyone have any books dedicated to garden re-design, garden renovation, garden renewal? Without the restoration/garden history focus? I listed my favorite above: "Rejuvenating a Garden" by Stephen Anderton This is not a book about restoration or historical aspects of garden renewal. This is the nuts and bolts "how to do it" aspect of renewing or renovating any and all gardens -- takes you thru the whole process of re-designing, budgeting, formulating the steps to change and in what order, immediate "first aid" for plants, excellent chapter on pruning in the older, mature and/or overgrown garden, assessing and timing: when to wait and when to act -- I love this book. edlincoln, All I can say is you'd just have to see it and then be the judge. I think people look at some view in front of them or picture a scene in their heads and think the one being described is like that. I can assure you, this particular case is not like that. There is no sense of privacy for one thing because you can see the little brick house behind the huge trunk and all the struggling foundation plants. I've seen houses nicely enshrouded in shade and trees making them impossible or hard to see from the street that look cool and inviting. Usually those trees are well chosen varieties and planted at a well thought out distance from the house as if someone actually planned it. This is not what I am describing. This is a problem of scale, a design disaster any way you try to excuse it, such as with remarks like "I love oaks". Seeing large limbs laying on roofs such as I often see is not my idea of nice either. Seeing large trees planted too close to structures is also a common sight as well as volunteer trash trees & underbrush left to grow amuck without any attempts at maintenance, a definite sign of neglect especially when the structures are showing problems as a result. Its called slum. I live in the inner city and I see lots of this. This Pin Oak has a very large limb banging away at the peak of the roof and a large mass of branches and leaves sitting right on top of it because the space is too small for such a tree which dominates the entire yard resulting in a One Plant only situation because there is no space or sun for anything else. There is no grass. The house looks dwarfed and the effect is ridiculous looking. But.......its an oak. Must be revered.

Thanks for your tips. Adellabedella - I don't know if she is making a scrap book. I think she is probably making some type of book in shutterfly. It seems like Shutterfly is mostly for pictures but I think I'll try there first - mainly because I know that site. Thanks again.

I've done a few Shutterfly books, and I was sure they did "journal" books and recipe books, but I can't hit upon them when I just looked. You might want to email customer service to find out.

I then decided to do a web search and came up with another previously-unknown-to-me site: Bookemon. If you click on "explore," a bunch of people's books come up, and you can actually flip through them (click on the top right "page flap" to turn the pages). Some are more professional looking than others. And many are more type-heavy than photo-heavy, so that should give you the freedom to have a lot more writing space. (In fact, some of the books I saw have no photos/drawings at all.)

You should probably do a Google search for "reviews Bookemon" just to see the satisfaction level of the company's users.
