Kohler Vinnata faucet questions
Comments (6)I have had the larger Vinnata faucet installed for a few months now & have no problems with it. My hose does retract on its own. I think it depends on where the weight under the cabinet is placed on it. When DH 1st installed it there was some hesitation when I replaced the head back on. Since he moved the big brass-looking weighted portion, I have had no problems with it retracting immediately. I havn't had any problems with the rubber piece...but again, I have only used it for a few months. Hopefully someone who has had theirs a bit longer can chime in. HTH! Comments (12)I don't know about the chrome or SS, we have the polished nickel. I will tell you, though, that the spray/stream button is covered with rubber. As to pull down vs pull out...I think it's mostly personal preference. I have had both and I have no complaints about either (will have both w/the new kitchen as well when prep sink is installed). When I think it does matter is when the size of the higher necked pull downs overwhelm an area. We have the Vinnata on our main sink in front of a large bay window and it works very well there. However, our prep sink will be in a corner w/cabinets above on the left and peninsula seating on the right. We felt that even the secondary sink Vinnata was too big for that area so we are putting in a pull out (Kohler Fairfax). [We had a Price Pfister pull out in the old kitchen...it's now in my brother's kitchen!] Pull outs usually have a longer reach than pull downs...I think it's b/c the pull downs are high enough to put a tall pot underneath so you don't generally need to extend it so far. Pull outs, on the other hand, are too short to put a tall pan under, so you have to have a longer reach to get to the pot. Most people also seem to prefer the movement needed to use a pull down vs a pull out...they both work fine for me so I think it's the personal preference thing again! I would definitely have one or the other! I grew up w/a side spray and when I lived in an apartment I missed it. When we built and I forgot to specify a side spray, I replaced the cheap builder faucet w/a pull out and loved it! Now, when I visit my parents I find the side spray far less useful than the pull outs/downs and am trying to convince my parents to install a pull out or pull down (no luck yet...my mom says she wants to do a budget remodel soon and save her money for then...maybe Christmas....hmmm....) HTH! (sorry I rambled on!)...See MoreFeedback on Kohler Karbon faucet
Comments (23)Has anyone recently called Kohler about the flow issue. We just installed the Karbon faucet and as expected the flow was much lower than I was used to. I called Kohler and asked for the higher flow valve. The only option the service rep offered was to buy a high flow head for $82 (she did offer 25% off). I have already taken the head apart, so I suspect I just need the plastic restrictor. I expected to need to get the high flow restrictor from Kohler when we decided on this faucet, but in all the threads I have never seen anyone mention paying for an $82 part. Most people are so happy with Kohler service for sending them the part complimentary. Did I just get a bad draw on the service rep lottery? Is there a secret password I should mention that gets me the part we need, or do I just need to ask pretty please and they send it free. Anyone who got the upgrade have any ideas?...See MoreFeedback on Kohler Karbon and Stages 45
Comments (14)We too are going the 'let's fully use our marble' Nightowl. Champagne, gin and tonics,. Beer, red wine. Etc. all poured into glasses with no worries as to possible etches. We have only had ours a week and have thirty or fourth etches. All teeny splash marks. Don't care one bit. Even my hubby is fine with it. And everyone who said in my research phase, that you can't see etches until you look a certain way ( head nearly on counter tilted sideways, and who does that and doesn't worry that the men in white coats are going to come and cart them away to a pink padded room) love it. Soooo pleased we plumped for it. bbtrix, the only thing that makes me doubt my marble is your wooden island top. Wow! Everytime I see it it gives me butterflies in my stomach and I can't stop staring and finally the op, beachem, I don't think you'll have a problem reaching my daughter is 5'2" and one of the others is 4'7" ( they are 18 and 13) can reach our tap easily ( Kohler Vinnata) the karbon looks very user friendly and movable and LOVING my stages 45 it was a last min splurge had a 100cm Belfast in order but the delivery company messed up four times with its delivery so we finally had enough then I sweet talked dh into the stages. Was easier than I thought...See Morelascatx
