I have a high end flooring store and we also make custom rugs. We love selling seagrass carpet and rugs. I personally have it wall to wall in my home, including on the steps, along with area rugs. We also have it wall to wall in our store. I have trained 3 puppies on it and have had major spills. I find it cleans up wonderfully. I basically use two products, Woolite Oxyclean, which you can buy anywhere, and Capture (a Powder cleaner) which you can buy at Lowe's. You can totally soak any type of stain with the Oxyclean. Use a vegetable brush if you need to get any solids out of the crevices. Once the spot dries (and it can take a few days and look really bad while it is drying so don't worry) use the powder Capture to sprinkle in, to clean up any residues, then vacuum up the powder. I have kept all the Seagrass that I have looking new and some of the Seagrass is over 10 years old. Also, Seagrass is not expensive and looks great in all types of decor.

We used overlapping indoor/outdoor rugs to "carpet" our basement. I'm glad we did, as we've had 3 water events since doing it. A couple of the fibers have broken (kid-related?), but they're easy to clean. Ours are made of recycled bottles, and they're reversible. One note: Indoor/outdoor rugs don't absorb moisture. Part of the point is to allow moisture to pass through, so you don't have mold or mildew problems under the rug. Thanks! I love the one you posted! My room is 16x16 and I am thinking I need something bigger then a 8x10 which makes it harder to find something. The rug I posted is a 9x12 which I think would be about right as far as size goes. Would you agree or could I go with a 8x10?

I like the rug you picked out and think it would look great in a boy's bedroom, I don't think it says "outdoor rug" at all. (Did you see the "Organic Blocks" rug? I think that one's pretty sharp and very masculine.) Polypropylene is very practical because it's very difficult to stain and you can just haul it out on the deck or driveway and hose it down to clean, there's no fussing, and it's usually nice and soft underfoot. Most of the rugs I've had were polypro because of pets and my own clumsiness (I spill things a lot), it's only recently that I have had wool and that's primarily because I found a couple of wool rugs I liked very cheap at Home Decorators Collection outlet! We used carpet tiles in our previous house (DH was adamant about having carpet in the bedroom and with a middle-aged cat and a dog modular carpeting was the only thing I would consider!) and I found the FLOR tiles to be pretty hard and uncomfortable, like office carpet, and many of the styles were very scratchy even though they were described as soft in the catalog - make sure you get samples. I ended up choosing Milliken's carpet tiles which are more like conventional carpet in feel. Although they're not on the website, Lowes has a few FLOR styles, including some exclusives; I don't know if they're actually FLOR brand but Target has some similar carpet tiles at a pretty decent price. Another option is replacing the casters on the roll-out drawers and desk chair with soft rubber or polyurethane ones that do not damage wood floors.
