DH doing happy dance

As I type the DH is installing the plug mold in our kitchen. We have eight areas to do . Somewhere in the past there was a post about installing them onto a 45 degree strip to make them easier to use.For anyone who will be installing them this a definite!

He says they are a bit difficult but very doable. I think all the research that said : how difficult they were and the friend and a nephew who are electricians, who said don't do. They hate them BUT my desire to have them no matter what I didn't want outlets/switches in my backsplash. It was the first thing in our remodel that I said was a must have ! Prepared him for the worse and maybe makes them seem not so bad.

That said........He does a happy yell and dance each time he gets one installed. He had me on the run with the first one. I thought he had gotten zapped!

Can you explain what you mean by installing on a 45 strip? I have just learned about these here on GW and am very interested!

Heidi: Quite a while ago there was a post on here by a fellow GWer. The plug mold strips when installed the outlet part is straight up and down and many say you have to look under cabinet to plug in where if the strip is added it is more at a slight angle - easier to plug in. We added a light strip/valance to bottom of cabinet s to hide the plug mold and lights.

I do need to get additional information from DH -hopefully this eve. He already left for work. 1. He found the directions online to make the wood strip . 2. Different directions on install of plug which were easier to do and understand.
3. A biggy cost wise: I posted not long ago that the online sites and big box stores not the least expensive place to purchase the plugs. We found a local wholesale electrical company that carried them and at about HALF the cost!
4. Also they try to sell and insist you need a transformer I believe they are called. NOT! Our electrician friend said they are unnecessary. The plug molds are hardwired an unnecessary expense and will meet code without. We live in a county with very strict code requirements.

"If anyone wants to see them..." are you kidding!!! Your Christmas decor is always like a DREAM, and this year's was that and more! I'll never get my jaw off the floor where I dropped it. And where on earth do I even start?? You make me want a Christmas Lady (I loved Judith's too). The elegance and romance is just breath-taking. The Victorian looks really appeals to me. The beautiful trees, WOW. The Wizard of Oz Tree is delightful. Your buffet....send to me asap please. With the decor of course! Then there is that mantel, OH MY! I clicked on each photo to see the big version, and all the details you do are just wonderful. Of course I snagged some photos for the Inspiration albums. And if anyone were to think PINK doesn't go with Christmas, then I'm sure you've just converted them! (some of you guys did that to me several years ago. LOL. I can't believe I use to not like Pink!!) I'm so glad you are back, loaded with photos, and have a new computer to play with. Happy New Year! I'm also so glad to see more Christmas decorations. I just NEVER get tired of looking at them, any time of year. If I had my way, we'd do a Christmas vignette or table once a month! LOL. Well, I'm going back and look at it all a few more times tonight. Your blog is always bookmarked but I'll spending a lot of time on this post of yours. LOL. hugs, Karen

The perimeter cabinets are SW Creamy, I believe, and the island is black distressed. Granite is called Golden Ray, although when I looked at samples online, it didn't look anything like my granite. Golden Beach looks more like mine, but maybe they are the same but different names. I did Crema Marfil 1x2 staggered tiles--those went up yesterday and were grouted today--quick worker!! Thankfully we have THE BEST builder ever! He is about as excited about this house as we are! He is so conscientious about every little aspect and detail and can basically read my mind at this point. I'm hoping we won't have any big issues arise that last week, as there isn't that much more left to do! :0) I'm sure something will come up, though. As long as we can get the CO and move in, I will allow them to come back and do whatever else they need to do to finish.

Thank you all for the kind words! I am SO happy to have finally found my little marble for baking area. It's not very big...but it weighs a TON :) The dresser is wonderful, too. I love the green knobs! We're thinking a slightly lighter shade is what we'll paint the walls, but only the top 1/3 or so. We're thinking about creamy white, painted beadboard on the lower 2/3. Not sure about the rest, but we want something easy to clean, but still pretty with some floral (and bunny) plates displayed against the green!

So glad to hear of your happy increase of sunshine, Laura! The moral of the story is choose your trees for the size of the landscape area carefully! I must admit i was an ignorant offender of a sort not too long ago. I bought a house with 20 redwoods and then planted 10 more. 20 years later it was a dense forest and some neighbors didn't mind, others didn't care (thankfully). i had no sun on the pool as they were between 100-125 ft. tall. However, while they were racing towards the sky, the roots were strangling my irrigation pipes, cracking my pool pipes, and filling my sewer line. They found my wallet really badly. I got rid of all of them. Freaked out the neighborhood. One neighbor now has a sunset view (happy), another neighbor can enjoy his lawn (happy), and the one down the hill planted 5 redwoods (idiot). And - - - i was able to plant 40 citrus and 10+ other fruit trees (happy). So if you know an ignorant offender out there, be nice, but don't necessarily wait for God to intervene (as in your case Laura). Be straightforward - they may be nudged into decency. : - ) -George

Heidi, the link below is from a fellow Michiganite/ Michiganian/Michigander or in other words one of your peeps. She posted just recently about her under cabinet lights and angled plug mold. You could probably email her if you need further info. Maybe she lives around the corner from you and you can check out her kitchen in person.
