Do you like purple flowers?

I do! On the way to lunch on Mother's Day we passed this huge hill of this ground cover in bloom. DS and DIL stopped on the way home to take these pictures of Austin in the flowers. It was also his first birthday and they wanted something special. He was loving it!

Austin is a beautiful boy and I love those purple flowers. What a great background! I even like Creeping Charlie's purple flowers. LOL

jordangrub - that's a wallflower. Cheiranthus cheirii, not Matthiola incana. You say waste ground so quite possibly someone dumped some garden rubbish there at some time. They are biennials and in the UK they are generally planted out in the Autumn to flower the following Spring. Frequently used in bedding schemes with tulips. A clasic of the British spring garden scene. Now you know what itis I bet you'll start to see them everywhere! Here is a link that might be useful:

Thanks for the replies lazy, mammie, and rox. I think it might be a Veronica of some sort after googling the other plants. I'm still not 100% sure on that though. Here is a up close leaf shot if it helps to confirm it is in fact a sort of Veronica plant.

A wonderful child indeed!

Yep! I like purple flowers, too. Right now, my lawn has been invaded with two types of voilets - I guess you could call those purple. I've got the common 'woods violet' whose blossom is a solid, deep shade of violet. The other violet has larger blossoms. Its petals are mostly white with a blue center and the blue color streaks out from the center to dissappearing spears on the white petals, a striking bloom.

Precious pictures. I've been given flowers a lot over the years, but the one bouquet I remember the most was from my DDIL who gave me a bouquet of purple flowers of various kinds. I don't know the name of one flower in it, but remember it as some kind of flowering onion. (I think) Anyways it was such a pretty array of diffrent kinds of various shades of purple and lavender. All the flowers came from her garden. She sure has a wonderful green thumb. Dottie

I think the flowers are pretty, love the colors, but Austin is the 'frosting on the cake' He is just to cute sitting there.
It's been a fast year! The little guy is growing up!!

Thanks.....we do love him! He's a bundle of energy though, just like my son is! I was really surprised he sat this long to get this many pictures! LOL....he seemed to love them though!! I am having one of these pictures put on a coffee mug for his mommy for her birthday. And getting one made for me too! I just love the color of these flowers!
