Pentair EasyTouch Wireless Remote

We have decided to add on a wireless remote to our new build. I am trying to figure out how to negotiate a good price on this from the PB. What should I expect to pay for this? How much wiggle room is there?

Just for reference, we have about 40k into the pool.

We are using 520593 EasyTouch 4PSC-IC40 if that matters.

Hi paradigmdawg, we haven't gotten ours yet but our pool builder who is very competitive in his pricing wanted to charge us $800 for it.

I tried to negotiate a little and he ended up bundling it into the price for the Easytouch so he probably shaved a couple hundred off the total price.

I could get it online for much less (Pool Suppy World has it for $465 - model. no. PEN520546) but I didn't want to offend our PB - he is very old school and doesn't think people should be buying pool equipment online - also this way he will help me program it etc.

Thanks for the info mwrede.

I will be the offended one if my PB tries to jack the price up like that unless the install and programming is difficult.

Any thoughts from anyone else out there on whether or not this is a DIY install and pretty easy to program/learn? I am an Audio/Video geek if that helps.

dontom, The Easy Touch is designed to operate the valves as well as the speed. The actuators can be programed to partially open and restrict flow or open fully for more flow and allow several(up to 4) speed adjustments. You shouldn't need any manual valves on the system. Perhaps you need to call someone more familiar with the Easy Touch programing?

Intermatic does make wireless control systems. Not a big player in this category but a long time industry giant for mechanical clocks. Recently, their P1353ME digital controller has become the standard for replacement of their mechanical clocks for two speed upgrades. This item does have a wireless attachment and a third circuit if you want to avoid a full blown automated system.

If you haven't already done so, ck customer and subcontractor references BEFORE signing on the dotted line. Ck if any liens outstanding, litigation present and if past, how resolved. Years in business, how many pools/year. A+ score with BBB not enough, read my posting elsewhere regarding that topic. Your pool looks very nice, hope your experience is gr8 and that you will share with us the good, the bad and the ugly (but hoping you have none, lol).

Hi Guys, Still fighting with this one. I had the repair guy out today and he moved the hot wires on the relay over to the load side making my pump and chlorinator always on. He renamed "aux 4" to "cleaner" and set the type as "valve". He went into the intelliflo and set #1 as "Pool" 1700 rpm #2 as "Spa" 3500 rpm #3 as "Cleaner" 2700 rpm. The "pool" now comes on at the 1700 rpm, the problem is when "aux 4 / cleaner" comes on it is also at 1700 rpm. When "aux 4" comes on it is blinking and it also turns the pool pump light on at the panel. I fought with this after he left and I found that when I used AuxXX, the solar aux, this seems to work fine. I would have thought this would have worked on "aux 4" as all we are doing is sending out a signal on the data cable but that is not the case. I guess the only concern I have now is that the pump and clorinator are always on. I know the pump is in a monitoring mode and the clorinator is not supposed to active unless it is receivng flow but I still wish there was an easier way. I am wondering if I added 1 additional relay to my panel if I could get everthing running off that in a second mode?

Its very easy to program the wireless if the main controller has already been programmed.

If the builder wants too much for it install it after he's done.

There is the cost of the remote itself (which isn't cheap) and the cost to wire it. You have to have the comm port installed somewhere in range of the back door of the house so it can "read" your instructions coming via the remote. If I am building a pool and installing the wireless at the same time as the rest of the electrical, I charge $595 for it. It would be more if it's a retrofit.

I would be fine with $595 as that is just under $150 more than one could purchase it online and that seems fair for install/programming.

I am uncertain what you are saying about the port being installed near the backdoor of the house; unless it is a pretty poor remote. Any basic RF signal should be able to travel through walls and a good distance.

I have a Easy Touch mounted inside of a mechanical room. It's roughly 60' from the antenna to the spa, around a corner and through the mechanical room wall (wood framing w/ stucco) and it works fine except when you step into the spa.

Thanks racket.

My Easy Touch is only about 20 feet from my backdoor and you dang near fall into my pool when you open the backdoor so I think it will be fine.

I will hit my PB up for a good deal when he comes on Monday to do the coping and tile.
