wireless remote control systems

We would really like to have a wireless system to control pool/spa/lights in both/waterfall and possibly low voltage landscape lighting - if possible. Looking at Pentair EasyTouch, pb only uses Intermatic (I think that is brand). Actually he says Intel but I think he really means Intermatic, don't find any Intel wireless pool remotes. Any opinions?

Intermatic does make wireless control systems. Not a big player in this category but a long time industry giant for mechanical clocks. Recently, their P1353ME digital controller has become the standard for replacement of their mechanical clocks for two speed upgrades. This item does have a wireless attachment and a third circuit if you want to avoid a full blown automated system.

Maybe your builder said intel as in Intellitouch.

If your builder said intel, and meant intermatic, it may be better to have automation later.

hgluckman, I would look for a "remote controllable" switch which will interrupt the power supply to the controllers. It may mean that you will have to disable the back up system and you will have to re-program the controllers after any such event; now there is a gift that keeps on taking!

Thanks, repair guy. Given the additional indoor controller cost, battery costs and possible interferance issues, I'll probably go with the hardwired system. The manual says to use a 4-wire, 22g UL for hardwire unit, but couldn't find it at the local hardware store. I did see a 4-wire, 18g sprinkler cable I was planning on using as a substitute. Question on the Easytouch battery for time/ date. Is the battery there for power outage backup to save programming? Does it draw low voltage power from another source, too?

Wantto, yes, I knew about the LST being returned to the US from across the Atlantic. The elderly crew came into the boat supply store where I was working at the time. And they were a chipper bunch of old guys, and I was so pleased to meet them. After WW2, the company that my dad worked for used some of the WW2 large landing craft to load highway vans on, and then ply between Apalachicola FL (eastern end of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway) all the way to Brownsville TX or Port Isabel TX, which was the western terminus for the ICW. This was the beginning of the "container freight" concept. The company was bought out by Federal Barge Lines, and then by one of the big cargo companies like PanAtlantic Steamship, and then the rest is history. Steph, would you define SCOOCHED? Interesting term. :) In one episode of HOLMES ON HOMES where they redid a kitchen for a handicapped woman, they put some kind of hardware in the upper cabinets which would come down to counter height so she could reach them from a wheel chair. I think REV-A-SHELF makes such a mechanism. I would think that in a kitchen with really really high ceilings this would be a good thing, even for a person who was not disabled, but just vertically challenged. :)

Need advice on wireless solar outdoor floodlights with remote control

Cross-posted in lighting and landscape. I need to be able to light sections of my yard that are not lit by the floodlights on the house. While most of the area is under trees, there are some small sections that are open to sunlight. The experimental area is about 300 ft by 60 ft. If these lights work, there are other sections that need light. I don’t care about motion sensors because wildlife and my dogs traverse the area. But, for example, if the dogs bark I need to be able to light the area manually from my house to determine if there is a threat. Most of the lights I’ve seen in my searches need to be affixed to a wall or a post(?) and have a downward stream of light. I would like to put these lights in the ground and have the lights directed horizontally. Wireless because moles and squirrels like to chew on buried or above ground wires and falling branches might break the wires; wires are also subject to being tripped on. Are there outdoor lights that would fit these criteria? Maybe I’m searching for the wrong thing. Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

You can't go wrong with Pentair, Jandy, or Hayward. Intermatic is not known to be in the same league as the above players when it comes to automation control systems.

If you are talking about lights only then a simple X-10 system will get the job done for $30

PB likes Intellitouch after researching today have decided that EasyTouch will accommodate our needs and looking at buying EasyTouch pak with the Intellichlor. I don't need remote access to system and can't imagine adding anything else to the system to control. Anyone have EasyTouch with Intellichlor?

The main reason EasyTouch was created was to have IntelliChlor support built-in. So the two were designed to work together.

I have EasyTouch with Intellichlor. It was a breeze to install and has worked perfectly.

I can assure you that you'll like the EasyTouch more than you would the Intellitouch.
They're very easy to navigate and set-up.
