Trickle charge
Comments (30)The smart charger design is sound and properly executed is a great device. When the the cost analysis-marketing department gets a hold of it and designates 20% tolerance $.001 caps and resistors and little to no QC that problems arise and you won't find it properly executed at Wal-Mart or Amazon prices. Even a respected name like Schumacker bows to the pressure the market imposes and sells products now that they would never have put on the shelf when they were making a name for themselves. There are two companies I know of that still manufacture their products the way they always have... Bunn coffee makers and Kitchen Aid stand mixers... and NEITHER of them are inexpensive cause they charge what it costs to make 'em like they used to today. Unless one is willing to spend what it costs to buy a quality smart charger the best way to get the longest service life out of a seasonally used wet cell battery is to remove if from the device, keep it where it's warm, and charge it at low current for 12 hours every 30 days. There is NO easy solution... there is NO magic bullet to battery maintenance. As Sean Connery said to Kevin Costner in The Untouchables "here endeth the lesson"...See Moreinfinity edge
Comments (4)I don't believe it "standard" but it certainely doesn't hurt. Most people don't really run their negative edge pumps more than a couple of hours a day, unless they are having a party or something because the water running over the wall, and the pump operation consumes a lot of energy. Also neg edge troughs typically pull off bottom suctions to there isn't that much debris that ends up back in the pool....See MoreQuestion about infinity edges....
Comments (5)Hi banana! The Infinity Edge has a suction pipe in the bottom that draws the water out and into the pool. At that point, the water runs through the pool filter. It would need to be manually skimmed, though, for the stuff that may float on top. That's really not a big deal, although it may depend on how much debris you get in it from existing trees, etc. We don't have any large trees that shed around the trough, so it has remained very clean (well, at least for the whole two days we've had it! lol). When you're swimming in the pool, you can't see into the trough - unless you swim right up to the edge, pull yourself up and look down into the trough. I'm not sure if one could be added to an existing pool. The structure was all tied in together when we built it. The steel, the plumbing and the foundation were all done at the same time. To add it in would probably require tearing down and rebuilding the wall on the side where you want the Infinity edge. This is just a guess, though. The cost? Hmmm, that would probably vary widely between builders. Our whole pool cost was about 80,000.00, but that was before our PB left us high and dry. We hope to recover the additional money it cost us to finish it. The other big factor for cost is how long you want the Infinity Edge to be. I guess the usual length is about 12' (I didn't know that until recently). I designed ours to have 45' of negative edge - guess that explains the looks on the PB's faces when I gave them the drawing for our initial estimates!! I just thought, "Hey - if they're going to build a pool wall ANYWAY, let's just have it disappear over the edge :)." Some of the PB's on this forum can probably answer the cost question better than I can. With the slow economy, you might get some pretty good bids right now! Your friend,...See MoreBuilding an infinity edge pool
Comments (6)Keep an eye on that cleaning head on the entry step that ended up way out by the nose. That is a lot of plaster or pebble if they plan to float it with just the interior surface material. That head should have been a couple inches in. Looks very cool! Crazy how high out of the ground it looks now. Compaction compaction compaction on that sub base!...See Morencrealestateguy
