I am trying to be patient, but the guys who are "supposed" to do my lawn and cement work are not as dependable as my building crew. I am getting a bit nervous...We are in a water restriction due to severe drought and our lawn planting season is drawing to a close......I hate to be at someone's mercy...and so I wait!

Yes, desertsteph.....I was thinking about cutting the 12x12 sheet into 4 lines of glass pencil tiles...and inserting them in the cream tiles about 4-6 inches up from the granite counter. Or I might just use the cream with some color of soft taupe grout......but it is the wall color that I am debating about. There is very little wall space that would show...so do I match the wall color with the grout color, or paint it green like is in the connecting dining room? I was looking at Lowes....and if you want look it up, the background tile is a biscuit color sheet with smaller subway tiles....and the glass tiles are a variation of cream and browns. They are finishing the sheet rock this week...and will start to paint next week....WOOHOO!! No more wall than there is in the kitchen, I might let them paint it green and get one of my kids to repaint it brown if I don't like the green.....decisions, decisions, decisions!!!

Brutalist art and architecture is a trend, and it will pass, just as rococo has, but I tend to think that in the future it will not be appreciated as much as rococo, whatever the current trend becomes. Even the Italian futurists, who hated classical and renaissance art and architecture, expected whatever they replaced it with to fall out of style and be replaced with something else. At least the Futurists created what I consider beautiful art and architecture, even if very little of the architecture got built. I very much appreciate their architecture over the brutalist movement. For me, the brutalist movement reminds me of "The emperor has no clothes." I think it deserves a place in history, but not a major one. Brutalist architecture lends itself to being enhanced by graffiti, which I do think improves it, but I often find graffiti depressing, especially when it is not placed on brutalist architecture.

I wondered if the less opulent rooms were from the 'in-laws' apartment? Either that or it seems much of the home was a show case for "look what we CAN do" vs the less decorated rooms--where they actually LIVE. The ONE thing I would love to have was the bathroom window. Before I could even think of buying this home the owners would have to move out and take all their furniture and window treatments with them. It's just tooooo too much one can't see the homes bones. Imagine the storage a stager would require!!!
