White Linen or Silk Restoration Hardware Shades?
Comments (2)I bought RH Lugarno sconces in polished nickel for our upcoming master bathroom remodel. I got the silk shades in bright white and I love the combination. The silk shades are also supposed to be mold resistant which always a plus in the bathroom. With carrara marble I really think you should stick with the silk in white or bright white because the linen white is very yellow. Plus polished nickel and marble are very elegant finishes that would go better with silk in my opinion. If the marble has more a of gray undertone I'd think silk in white would be the best because sometimes bright white colors mixed with carrara can make the marble look dingy....See More**UpDATE** Drapes are here, new lamp (again)!
Comments (32)Stay away from Smith and Noble. Stay far, far away. I ordered 6 shades. I paid Smith and Noble to come measure. When the shades arrived, 5 of the 6 were about 1/4 to 1/2 inch too wide for the windows. I asked to return the shades to get my money back. Turns out their "satisfaction guarantee pledge" means that they won't give you your money back, no matter what. They insist on coming back to re-measure, but a) I can't take time off from work again for this, and b) why would I want to run the risk of further screw ups and hassle? Their customer service staff come across as Soviet-style bureaucrats. Evidently, Smith and Noble could care less about disappointing their customers and engendering ill will. I guess my next steps are to file complaints with the BBB and my state's attorney general, as well as dispute the original charge with my credit card company. I'll probably send the shades back to the company's president for good measure. Keep in mind that Smith and Noble's "partner sites" (i.e. sister companies) include Ballard Designs, Grandin Road, Garnet Hill, TravelSmith, Frontgate, and others. You can rest assured that I won't be giving any of them my business in the future either....See MoreWhat height to hang linen drapes?
Comments (7)Hi, Ali-- The conventional wisdom when it comes to window treatments is to hang them high and wide so they can completely stack off your window and not obscure any of your view (however lovely it may be). Agree with the previous poster that going long is preferred and if the 'extra length pooling' look isn't your chosen style, you can always explore having them hemmed up. A sheer, unlined panel is something that any cleaner who also does alterations can handle at a reasonable price (or you yourself - if you have a sewing machine). I don't know your budget, but I would hesitate before going double-wide for your French door drapes. If the opening is only 62"w, you should be ok to do two of your single-width 50" drapes and have 100"w coverage. May really depend on how much light-blocking effect you're needing from the covering on that opening. Cheers!...See Morerestoration hardware perennial linen in white/natural/nickel?
