toaster oven question, to those that have/use one
Comments (51)I also use a puller -- especially when using the lower rack. It lives in the cabinet drawer next to the oven -- hidden -- where only I know where it is! Cathy - good to know about the great customer service you received from Breville. I will keep that in mind when mine gets 'sick'. I use it everyday, so I don't expect it to last forever, but it would be nice! I also splurged and purchased an extra pizza pan so I could make 2 pizzas easily - worth every penny for the convenience. I also have the electric wok made by Breville. I love their products! Your pup looks so content! Pretty kitchen....See Morenecessary evil: the toaster oven
Comments (107)I hate to admit this - but I actually ended up putting the toaster oven on a shelf in the garage - just outside the door to the garage. I have a pretty towel covering it up tho! hehe Anyhow, that's where my toaster oven has been banished to until I can think of a better idea. At first, I had it on a slide out shelf in one of my lower cabinets. There is already and electrical outlet inside the cabinet so it worked perfectly. Then while unpacking all of the other oodles of stuff for the kitchen, I found that space wise, having an entire slide out shelf for the toaster oven just wouldn't work. It's been replaced by food storage containers. In our old kitchen, it was mounted under an upper cabinet and worked GREAT. But I think that somewhere along the line, I must've turned into a kitchen snob - because I just could NOT have that in the new kitchen. LOL Somehow though - kitchen snob and toaster oven out in the garage - just don't go together....See MoreFuture of Counter Top Cooker Appliances. Toaster Oven, Roaster,
Comments (39)Flwrs, Sorry, I almost missed your reply. I have two AEG Ovens. A half and a full. These are two separate ovens, not a combo. AEG is the european... friend? of electrolux. I am located in Oregon and had them shipped in from overseas via a company in Canada. I can give you references to that if you wanted to go to those lengths but I have to say, as much as I love my 1.5 I don't know if I would push the expense and stress of doing it that way onto somone else. Steam ovens ARE pricier. Just flat out. No holds barred. Lol. But they are the only ovens where people seeming to be aiming for smaller in size rather than larger. If you think you might be interested you should put in a new post asking about steam ovens in the name. You'll get a ton of responses. And, for that matter, tons of cool pictures!...See MorePoll: Do I NEED a Nesco Roaster?
Comments (7)I'm the polar opposite of Grainlady. I don't particularly care for kitchen gadgets (although Elery does) and seldom use them, opting for basic knives, pots, etc. I LOVE my Nesco, though. I have the 6 quart and the 18 quart and I use both of them regularly. I don't have a toaster oven, a counter top convection oven, etc., although Elery does have a countertop rotisserie oven. Of course he does. (grin) The 6 quart does a wonderful roast chicken, and I use it in place of a crockpot. I can cook outside in it when it's hot and the kitchen is steamy, which was an issue in my old house, although for the first time ever I'm living in a house with air conditioning, so it might not be an issue this year. I've cooked in the garage, I did lamb on the back porch so I could avoid the smell, and I've dragged it to my daughters' houses when they were short on space. I use it for additional cooking/oven space on holidays, although now I have double ovens, so I might not have to do that either. The big one I use to simmer large batches of stock for canning or freezing, to make the baked beans or au gratin potatoes for family parties (we have a lot of those, we like to get together, what can I say), I've used it to bake brownies when my oven was on the fritz and I can take it with me and just plug it in and not take up kitchen space when we're at one of the girls' houses. We took it with us when we did Christmas with Elery's family too, so we didn't mess up the oven/stove assignments at his son's house. So I'd say yes you need one, although I would encourage you to borrow one for this particular gathering and see how you like it. You very well might decide that you need one after all.
