First craft show in area

Twice a year Minot hold what they call the Big One--Spring and Fall.

Went to Spring with about 85 vendors. Nothing special, but it was a picture perfect day for the area.

A couple of vendors had assortments of glassware that they had painted on--real cute small vases, with indented sides, where she painted tiny flowers. Real cute and good colors. Some clothing, not much, jewelry, baked goods, and other foods, and marshmallow stick like fishing sticks. Local person writes children's books, was there to sign them. trays to put on laps deocorated nice. Good assortment and good prices.

I just ran across a box in my garage (trying to clean out garage) labled Craft Show.. In it are all sorts of things left over from a craft show I participated in years ago. I made everything in the box and will not toss it out !!!

Hi Mojo, I was surprised to see Luvs mention my shutter shelf in this forum (thanks Luvs). I think your asking price for the shelf is correct. I paid $50 for mine at a country store in VT - and get this, it still had a bit of dirt on the back of it. (LOL) It was old and rustic and I wanted something different on my walls than just pictures. Didn't matter how much it was, when I saw it, I wanted it and it looks fantastic on my kitchen wall. I change the decorations for it to suit me, or the seasons. My kitchen decorating theme is roosters, so this first pic I'm posting is of my summer rooster theme. Two more pics in next posts. Sal Here is a link that might be useful:

The craft shows in our area have sort of gone to pot....I just went to one and there was Tupperware, Avon, etc. I don't call those things crafts. Having said this....I did buy one thing that was new and different to me...and "is" a craft. They call their business "Stones of Fire", and they break pieces of granite into interesting shapes...drill a hole and insert a wick. Underneath, there is a little well for lamp oil....it is different and unique. You can probably find their website if you want to take a look. Other than that, the whole thing was disappointing.

Wow, a craft show in April! I'm so jealous, even if there's nothing new to look at. Where I use to live craft shows were pretty prevalent, more so in the winter months. Where I live now the craft shows are non-existent. I still do craft some, but you can only give so much of it to the family before they start running when they see you coming...lol. Were you there as a seller, and if yes, what did you sell? Suzan J

I love craft shows, but only if people are selling handmade items, not mass-produced stuff like socks and sunglasses. Have fun!

I belong to a friendship club here. There is about about 10 of us who get together once a month. One goes south for the winter. We hold a meeting and if you don't have something to tell about yourself or something else thats interesting you have to pay a dime. We do a bithday party at the nursing home in the next town over in March and in December we go out for dinner and go to see the decorated trees in the capital building in Pierre. Sometimes in the summer we take a road trip someplace here in SD. After the meeting we have lunch and just sit around and talk. We pay a quarter for the lunch. Everyone takes a turn holding the meeting in their home.

I belong to another club in the next town over. It is a homemakers club or CFEL(COMMUNITY AND FAMILY EXTENSION LEADERS) club. My mother belonged to one of these and I always wanted to join one. When I moved down here from Bismarck I called the county agent to ask if there were any around here. The secretary belonged to one and she asked me to join it. She told me about the other one here and I joined that one too. In the CFEL club it is run about the same way except we have dues that go to the state and national organization. Here we usually do a craft too though. We pay a dollar every month at this one.
Does anyone else belong to a club like these?

Marie I want to apologize for adding this to your post. I didn't kmow it was going to do that.I belong to a club here in SD. There is about 10 of us who get together once a month. One goes south for the winter. We hold a meeting and if you don't have something to tell about yourself or something else thats interesting to tell you have to pay a dime. We do a birthday party at the nursing home in the next town over im March and in December we go out to dinner and go to see the decorated Chreistmas trees in the state capital building in Pierre. This year we also helped a one of the ladies fill plastic easter eggs for an egg hunt that she puts on. Sometimes in the summer we take a road trip to somewhere around here and have lunch too After the meeting we have lunch and sit around and talk. We pay a quarter for lunch. Everyone takes a trun holding it in their home.
