Mix Butcher Block and Oiled Soapstone Laminate in Small Kitchen?

Hi,

I have been lurking here for a few weeks and have become addicted! I wish I had found this site months ago.

We are midway through a total kitchen renovation in our 1923 bungalow. We're doing Ikea Adel Medium Brown cabinets and oak flooring to match the rest of the house. The cabinets are almost all in but we have been agonizing over the countertop. Today I can finally visualize the Wilsonart Oiled Soapstone Laminate. However, I am worried about too much black and thought that I might do butcher block on one of the countertops (about 5', on a wall separate from the oiled soapstone).

Question: Is it crazy to mix countertops in a small kitchen? Would that be too much wood (floors, cabinets, countertop)?

Finally, I wondered about using a black sink with the black countertop, hoping that would disguise the top mount (which I don't really prefer). Any opinions?

Thanks!
