Mixing granite and butcher block

How many of you have mixed granite and butcher block? I'm trying to help some friends with a decision of whether or not to break up looong runs of granite with butcher block.

The granite they chose has a lot of movement, and they are concerned that the seams are going to stand out too much, so they are considering breaking up the granite runs with butcher block to avoid seams. The kitchen is a basic L-shaped design with each side of the L being almost 14 feet long. One of the possibilities is to put butcher block in the corner to reduce the length of the runs and minimize seams. It is being considered more for asthetics than for function. Has anyone else tried this? What thoughts do you have, either for or against this approach?

Below is a link to a short video of the partially finished kitchen that gives you an idea of the layout.

There is so much collective knowledge on this forum, so thanks for any insight you can provide!
