Thank you all again for the compliments, it's been a long time and I wanted to reply to a couple of questions. go_figure, the dimensions of the oven/pantry cabinetry is 16 feet. The range cabinetry is 10 feet. The island is slightly over 7' long by 3' wide. Regarding the red espresso machine, we LOVED that machine and tried to make sure we matched some red items with it. Sadly it died about 18 months ago. We replaced it with a bland silver espresso machine which actually produces much better coffee. We still can't get ourselves to throw away the broken red machine so it sits in our basement knowing it will never get fixed... Thanks again all, and best wishes on all of your remodels!

sayde, I think the biggest difference I've noticed is the finish. Crown Point's paint finish, both their classic and milk paint, is gorgeous. I prefer a very matte finish and even with the 10% sheen, the Cabico cabinets seem a little glossier. CP's finishing is done by hand and is very elaborate. Another thing is the detailing. Crown Point's product looks more like furniture to me. For example, the toekicks aren't added on, they're all one piece with the frame. And look at this corbel: As far as quality of construction, for an upcharge I can upgrade to all plywood boxes with Cabico. As far as I can tell Cabico's drawer construction and undermount hardware are of similar quality to CP's. Aside from quality and detail, the other big factor that had me leaning toward Crown Point was that the CP designer is much more in tune with my style. Her kitchens are in my inspiration file, while the other KD's kitchens appear very run-of-the-mill, cookie-cutter to me. Good luck with your continuing research!

If you want to mximize the interior width of your cabs have your maker gang several boxes together. So we have the plywood box sides butting up with each other. The combined depth of two sides is 1/16" shy of 1 1/2" inch. Have him set the width of the stiles to 1 7/16 and attach the face frame for the whole assembly as one unit. What this does is make a traditional "American" cabinet into a frameless European one. The beauty of this is that the slides will go directly on to the sides of the box without the need for blocking or having to use the bracket attachments for face frames ( which are a nightmare to install ). I apologize If I am rambling, tell your guy to build the frames flush to the wall of the cabinet. Steve

Adding to the above, a frameless cabinet is a box, 5 sides of the cube, with a door attached to it. A framed cabinet is a cube with a hole cut out of the 6th side -- creating a frame around the opening on that last side. In either case, the cabinet door covers the 6th side. In the case of a frameless, the door covers the entire opening and the sides of the box material. A framed cabinet has the option of covering all of that frame (full overlay) or just part of it (partial overlay). Maybe that will help you picture the difference. If a frameless cabinet is well built, it should be just as strong as a well made framed cabinet. You may also hear them called European cabinets because they have been the standard in Europe. The IKEA cabinets that seem to be a gold standard for budget cabinetry are frameless cabinets. I have maple painted Brookhaven and WoodMode cabinets as well as knotty cherry WoodMode. All of them are frameless and we love them. We got a lot more drawer space we have much better storage and usable space even though we were limited to the same footprint and took out a corner pantry.
