Basketball goal that fits into deck sleeve

does anyone know of a basketball goal that fits into a deck sleeve. I dont want to have one that sets on the deck with a water/sand fill tub. It takes up too much room. I have seen some from Ziffun for around $180-200.00. Does anyone have one of these and if so any pics? If not this one any others that are around that price range. Most I have found are around the $700.00 price.

The sleeve are usually made of metal, set in the deck and must be bonded. If this is new construction, the PB or mason can do this.

If this is an existing pool, the plastic tub is the way to go. It doesn't get bonded.

The PB will put in a plastic sleeve that is the same as the ones used for the volleyball net. I just need to find a goal/basketball backboard that has a pole that fits into the sleeve. The sleeve they left here has paperwork for the Ziffun so I believe it will fit. Just wanted to see if anyone else has this set up and how they like it.

While I think that the "FAQ" as outlined by swanoir was presented tongue in cheek ('the humus'), many of the subsequent comments and/or links to threads that could/should be included in a FAQ were presented in a more serious tone. And maybe they do make sense as a foundation to a real LD forum FAQ. But I've also sensed something else in these comments that may contribute to the apparent lack of communication between new posters seeking advice and those that regularly frequent this forum and offer it. And that is that the long checklist provided by Miss R must be (or should be) answered in detail before posting. Well, of course not! But it is definitely something worth reviewing and giving some thought to. This checklist, or something very similar, is what most designers utilize when first meeting with a prospective client. It gives them a feeling for what the client wants to do with the property, how they intend to use it, what they hope to get out of it and how much effort (time/$$) are they are intending to put into it. Hopefully, reviewing an outline or checklist such as this could help to refine and focus some of those blank slate questions and even educate those new posters totally unfamiliar with the process the degree of complexity, the number of variables and exactly what is involved in the formulation of a landscape design. Even DIY landscape texts intended for the homeowner with no previous design or landscaping experience offer similar checklists to get one started thinking about the process. Obviously, this is overkill for those questions that are more issue-specific, but I think very appropriate for those that are much broader and far less focused.

Took awhile to get our first bid on the drainage work. Waaaaaay too much, so we are back to square one but still needing to get the work done (by another company obviously). We actually got parts of two pallets of sod. Not much to look at right now, but if it takes it will be about 150 square feet less that we'll have to eventually buy. If it doesn't take, it was at least free. Since we're in a "lull" right now--no drainage work, too late to plant new trees/shrubs, ivy still awaiting removal, stumps ground and chips distributed or hauled away--we're planning to have the lot surveyed and have started to power wash various of the concrete surfaces. Here's the driveway after an hour or so of work this morning before it started raining. This may be the last time we clean it. It's the original pour from 1965, and is starting to badly show its age. (Portion nearer the street not yet cleaned). Having checked on what it would cost to either rent a washer or have it done, we decided to buy our own. It will pay for itself shortly (we also have 5 vehicles that need washing not infrequently--that's anywhere from $6 to $22 each depending on where we took them). We weren't too impressed with the job the washer was doing until we figured out that we hadn't turned on the pump and were cleaning only with the water pressure from the hose. After turning it on it was a different story entirely!!!

Jayeanne.... Your envelope is in the mail and "should" be delivered on Saturday. I have the tracking number should it be needed. If I recall correctly paradigmdawg is in Benbrook, TX, which ironically is where I grew up. There must be something in the water that predisposes people to build homemade VB poles. Im in Flower Mound, TX now. If you can handle a hack saw, drill, small bag of concrete, and a shovel you can build one of these. The hardest part was figuring out how long to make the poles so that the net is level. The galvanized pipe at Home Depot comes in several lengths with both ends threaded so you can simply screw most of it together. If you decide to try it, let me know if you need any guidance. The plaster is the Wet Edge version of Pebble Tec Tahoe Blue. It's called Chilean Beach Tahoe.

I have the same basketball goal you are talking about..It is clear acrylic backboard and has lasted about 8 years in the Arizona Sun! I believe we paid about 300 or so for it. We bought ours at a place here in AZ called Shasta Pools and supplies..The sleeve is about 3 1/2 to 4 inches in diameter. Where are you located?

I am in DFW area. Do you have any pics? I want to see how it goes into the deck. I am thinking that if you only have one sleeve then the backboard might turn when you hit the side of the backboard. Do you have any problems with that? I looked at the volleyball net pole and sleeve tonight and it looks like you could screw the pole nut down into the sleeve pretty tight.

I have the SR Smith dual post backboard. We poured the deck before I could order it, so I bought two bronze sleeves at the local pool store and bonded them to the grid. The backboard can be ordered without the sleeves.

No regrets going with the deck mount. It works great and looks very cool.
