Woodrich brightner ,oxalic base with a buffer, with what we call a scrub n rub I use a hand brush like you can buy at the supermarket put on some gloves splash the stuff on and scrub. This would be for the rail system and the skirting. Add the brightner to the water not the water to the brightner. Water wash it all off with a garden sprayer, All of it. Remember your not trying to remove the finish just the crud the wash effect will happen on contact even tho you wont see it. For the deck itself I use a 14'' floor machine with a scrub pad stuck on this goes very quickley. If you cant find one of those use a handled deck brush finish off the corners with the hand brush. Be tidie around the alum balusters thay are power coated but just be carefull. Sand with an orbital sander 60 grit pads where needed if the little sharp whiskers come up. The covered area will always be in different shape then the rest nothing to do about that. Woodrich was crafted from twp nither need stripping just another coat after cleaning I advise two coats using the sprit of a sound mind , that is waiting for the first one to set up, and another come late spring. after trying a test area first. And Dont Wait so long for a recoat!!!!!!!!!!! Ghesssssssss. J.

Sanding with 80 grit will be fine no need to do the whole deck. After 10 years of puting down ipe I have found its better for my jobs to clean the project and put the TWP finish on.Many Folks have diferent ideas on this,some say wash it down with water a few times or use an oxalic acid wash,or wait a while even before puting the ipe on, and a lot of other things that I dont do and never have. I have found with my projects one coat of twp and just leave it alone. The wood will get usta its new home in a few months,then an oxalic acid wash,another coat. Leave it alone. Learn to work with this finish it is a build coat thing not a whole lot different than washing/waxing your car. I use a paint pad on a pole for the deck brush the rails. Your not killing snakes take your time,its very relaxing to me when I pamper my own project. Pick a day with good weather and of course when the Nascar race is not going on. J

Its some strong stuff. Just take the normal sprit of a sound mind using it. Add the product to the water not the water to the product same with the oxalic. Remember high school chem class same thing. Dont stand over it like your looking for a ruby when its in the bucket, put it on with a roller/pole with the deck,dip a hand brush in the bucket and scrub it on for the rails. Ware good rubber gloves dont let either one the oxalic or the md80 get into and behind the gloves and colect on your wrists. Depending on the heat outside keep the solution wet on the wood with a hand held sprayer on the garden hose while your working. Work fairley small areas,rinse,go on to the next. With your project and all the stuff on it you will have to scrub....the deck and the rails... The rails can be done with the hand brush so can the deck. I use a 14'' buffer for the deck with a scrub pad on it any bigger and you cant control it with out Chuck Noris standing by. Sounds a little complex No? its really not. Md 80 is not going to hurt you unless you do something stupid, good idea to protect any plants around and use a lot of water with the rinse. In a timley nature after all the shitola is off,roll on the oxalic it works on contact you will see it. Its ok to do this in sections but dont let the gunk set up again while your working the md80. The thing is the wood has to get used to the area of the instal this will involve a little drying out and a little movement. Its good to get the finish on as soon as the weather allows it but I have found two coats of twp,or wet on wet, has the same effect as one coat in a few months after the drying/movement has taken place. Building coats after that time only requires a good cleaning as prep. Its the ability to stack on or build coats that sets twp apart,the twp co and I disagree on this too. My masanranduba deck out back of Butler Manor has 4 coats on it with one oxalic wash inbetween after 6 years or so its just now showing signs of a needed recoat. I really pushed the cap rail its up to a simigloss right now. J.
