This is so freaky!

Our investment officer's 3 year old twin boys were doing fantastic and had a vocabulary of over 300 words. Then they were scheduled for their inoculations. What they were calling a vacination cocktail. I'm not sure what all was included in the cocktail. If it was polio, rubella, typhoid, etc. I just don't know. But, after they received it, they contracted Autism and no longer knew the vocabulary they had learned and the Autism started taking over.

We just heard this story today when talking to our investment officer's secretary on the phone. Then, later this afternoon, McCloud was over visiting with our neighbors across the street and finds out their young grandson got an inoculation cocktail and soon after was diagnosed with Autism when he had no signs of it prior to the shot. How scary and eerie is that?

Have any of you known or heard of cases like this?

YES! I've heard of it, its been on the national news a lot and I am surprised this is the first you've heard.
Its sad and so awful that it happens. Lots of people are NOT inoculating their children because of this. I am very glad I don't have young kids anymore and even worried over the GB's shots.
Iknow you will find alot online about this if you search Summer. I am not really what I'd call "up" on it all, so can't tell you anything definite.

I've seen TV shows about it, summer! Since I don't have kids, it doesn't directly affect me...but some of the evidence seems pretty convincing that these "cocktails" may well be the cause of increased cases of autism. How sad!!

Check out the green rose, maybe that is something odd you might like too. I hear this one does pretty good, I actually want one, and you can find people selling plants. I am with buford, if I did not hope it was because it was such a vigorous growing band, the shovel would have come after Archduke Joseph. And then I discovered another rose doing it too. Cold front moving in....AGAIN. The day started out so lovely. A bit breezey, but sunny and springlike. Then clouds began softly floating in...like huge white battleships. :( I decided to lay some more stones by the patio while it was cooler. I hauled two loads up from the driveway...puff, puff...and got them laid. Looks terrific. (Hope I don't break my arm patting myself on the back). More to go but making headway. That was enough for one day. I have to take it easy now (not suppoed to do any heavy lifting :) - ooops! So, I sat in a plastic lawn chair while I watered a little and examined all the plants that got their tops bit a little. Had to water the seedlings and tropicals in the cold frame and greenhouse, and just as I finished, here came a cold, strong north wind. So, I cam in and checked the weather radio. On top of more severe thundertorms there is a cold mass moving down from the Rockies. The temps are going to dip down again tonight and way down into the 30s on Friday night, then the highs on Saturday will bounce back up into the 70s. It is that flipflopping weather that gets everything here in the Spring every year. We get the warm moist Gulf of Mexico air masses and the cold, dry Rocky Mts. air masses. When the two meet...we get tornadoes, and that can be year round. This isn't called "Tornado Alley" for nothing. So we shall see. I want to go to Lowe's and see what they have on the Bargain table this week that got frost bite. You can get some really good bargains after a freeze! :) My heart goes out to all of you who live north of me that are having more snow. How miserable that must be. It is certainly beautiful country up your way, but I just couldn't stand the cold, long winters. I would be in a mental hospital in no time. I am a sunshine girl and NEED the sunshine and warmth like the air I breathe. I am dealing with what cold and gray skies we get here in Oklahoma all winter. I am just an old desert lizard - Mojave Annie...that's me! I love to sit on a hot rock and bask in the sun. Aaaah! I miss the desert and the mountains. But I like Oklahoma too. Every place I have ever lived has had its own special qualities and Oklahoma has many good ones, too. Oklahoma is one of three states that has more than eight distinct geological regions within the boundaries of the state. They are Oklahoma, Texas and California. Isn't that amazing, especially considering how small this state is in comparrison? Very diverse. Well, pray for Spring everyone...and pray for PEACE. ~Annie

I grew up with two stoves in our kitchen. One woodstove for helping heat the mainfloor of the house, but we also cooked all winter on it. We had the electric range for summer. Anyways above the cooking/woodburning surface of the woodstove was a white enameled shelf, for warming bread, or storing the extra oven mitts/drying winter gloves, and apparently not meant for storing the salt and pepper or any other spice that may slide off when the front door slams! Picture the slow slide of a can of ground pepper, as it tumbles off the shelf onto the roaring hot wood stove below. Can you say pepper spray? The crash of the tin was enough to make my mom grab the can, hence flinging it across the hot stove. We were cold that week. It took days to cool down and clean that stove. Every time we thought it was cleaned and relit..more pepper spray. It took nearly a year to repaint the kitchen where if you wiped the wall, the oily pepper smoke gagged you again. Oh,..don't think we learned the hard way..we did the same thing with a box of matches! Not nearly as bad, but look! Fireworks in the kitchen. An Aunt put beets through the pressure release valve of a pressure cooker..I've never touched one since. There was a 4" hole in the ceiling where the rocker blew through the drop ceiling..purple purple purple..everywhere! Another family member had the frying pan with the handle that would spin if you tried to carry the pan anywhere, but being a Le Crueset, they didn't stop using it, just adapted to directing the pan on the burner, but never actually picking it up, until a visiting friend made spaghetti sauce in said pan, forgetting the spinner handle spun the entire hot pan of sauce across the tile floor, bouncing it off cabinets, under the fridge, and into the hallway..in her hurry to clean it up..slid across the sauce/tile floor and plopped in a sobbing heap of wailing.."But the mushrooms..save the mushrooms".. apparently there were some rather expensive mushrooms in the sauce..oh..and perhaps some wine :)

"When you use porous soil and watering only when it's almost dry, the root tend to grow quicker to bottom farthest it can reach and start circling." This is not true for dracaena specifically, or generally for other plants we grow in containers unless the grower is habitually watering incorrectly (too infrequently). I grow in very fast soils and the entire soil mass becomes evenly and densely colonized by roots before any signs of roots circling just inside the confines of pot walls. I've posted hundreds of pictures of root masses on these fora that clearly illustrate this tendency. A maple just below, a boxwood below that, and the third image is Ficus benjamina. "Center of the pot will be hollow and near surface of the pot will be rootless." As noted above, this is not at all the case when using well-aerated, fast draining media. The complete opposite is true. The center of poor, water-retentive soil masses in pots, on the other hand, tend toward a central wasteland with very few roots (for lack of oxygen); and, what roots exist are typically found growing in a circular pattern between the soil mass and pot wall because that's the only place in the pot an adequate oxygen supply can be found. In the picture immediately below (as well as the several above), you can clearly see there is no shortage of fine roots in the middle of the pot, even at the surface. All of these root masses are the picture of health and were grown in Gritty Mix. "Root grow quicker under poor nutrients and slowing down when it reach rich nutrients spot." This too is untrue. Roots EXTEND more rapidly under conditions of low fertility; but since the true measure of root "growth" is the collective increase in their dry mass, it cannot be said that roots grow faster under conditions of low fertility. there are many reasons for the increase in cases including a new very broad definition to include even minor changes in behavior. this new definition allows alot more people to qualify for disability payments and assistance. there is definite scientific proof that there is a direct genetic cause of some autism forms. infact today CNN had a focus story about a sperm donor causing autism in 3 out of 6 children produced using his sperm. scientists still can not prove the vaccine connection but do feel there is a gene defect in the kids who develop autism after vaccines, i.e. their environment causes the expression of the defect showing itself as autism.

as someone w/ a great deal of scientific education and former science professor i do not believe in parental theories about vaccines but do think autism can result from gene defects being expressed after vaccines. ~ liz

I agree with what Liz has said.

I also find it odd that a vaccine "cocktail" would be given at the age of 3. Most vaccines are administered by the age of 18 months to 2 years. The next boosters would come between 4 and 6 years of age.

There's been similar cases here with what is known as the MMR (Mumps, Measles & Rubella) triple vaccination. Some kids seem to have a bad reaction to it and are later diagnosed with Autism, Aspbergers or ADHD type behaviours.
After listening to a very experienced Nurse talking about her own childs adverse reactions, I took her advise and chose to wait a little longer than the age scheduled for DS's vaccinations ... so if the first lot were due at 8 weeks, I waited til he was 12 weeks old before he got his shot. And I did that with all his vaccinations and he never had any adverse reactions to them.
Up until my nephew had his first lot of shots he was a perfectly normal baby, forming a good sleep routine etc but from that day on he hardly stopped screaming! He was diagnosed a few years later as severely ADHD and is on some pretty strong medication. Now that he's hitting puberty ... well, you can only imagine the challenges!!

what i've heard it was preservatives in multidose bottles that were suspect. dd2 asks for single dose bottles...

I just read on the internet about six children conceived using the same sperm donor and of those six there are three cases of autisim and one possible, so it isn't always the cocktail shots.

I've heard this vaccine theory for over 10 years. I think many have ruled it somewhat out though... One theory is that kids usually become autistic (or that signs can be diagnosed) at a certain age, and that the vaccines being given are just coincidental to that age so that the vaccines really have nothing to do with causing it.

I have no idea what the real scientific facts are, but I hope they can find out something to help the children and families very soon.

There is a lot of controversy on this. Many people blamed the preservative Thimerosal as the cause of autism. I also heard that the timing of the MMR (usually around 15 - 18 months, if I remember correctly) also correlates with the age at which autism often develops in kids. So it may be coincidental, or not. I know most vaccines are now done without thimerosal because of this link. My doctor did not believe the connection but had no problem delaying the mmr for my son until 2 years.

Never had childhood vaccinations myself, and due to my concerns, also did not have my daughter vaccinated. Read a book called "A Shot in the Dark", which totally turned me off of any idea of vaccinations...this before I ever had a baby.

Was a big brouhaha to keep her from being vaccinated, but I am glad I did it. She's almost 28 now and always been extremely healthy. I am also extremely healthy. I don't care what anyone says. I believe it is an unnecessary stress on the immune system. Would add that I never had her in day care or around a bunch of sick children when she was little. Was totally breast fed...as I was when I was a baby. To each his own...do what you want to do. I'd do the same thing over again.

Wow. I can sort of understand the thinking that autism presents itself at the same as a vaccination but for twins to become autistic after the shot? Wow.

Somethings just aren't broken but yet the industries are determined to improve everything. What is wrong with innoculating children for one or two diseases over a period of time? At least that way if there was an reaction the cause could be pinpointed to one or two vaccines instead of a half a dozen.

Thank you so much Glenda. My daughter hit all her milestones right on time such as sitting up, crawling, talking, etc. When she had her mmr shots she completely quit talking and would not walk. She is 3 now and just now beginning to talk in somewhat understandable words. Up until now it has been babbling. The change was overnight...seriously... one day she was saying words, and the next day...nothing. She goes to a preschool for young children (3-5yrs) with learning disabilities and is doing really well. She is finally starting to interact with other kids (she quit doing that as well and would play by herself when other children were around) and has speech therapy 3 times a week. They will not officially diagnose her as being autistic until she has been in the program for at least a year. Im just hoping they never will diagnose her. After that happened we got a form from our state capital that we had notarized allowing her to skip all other vaccinations. We also got one for our son.

This is so freaky!
