Got it going today! New plug. Blew everything out with air. Took the tank and carb off, cleaned and reinstalled. Changed the oil (twice... the second time after the oil was good and hot)and did a Sea Foam treatment. It was a bit difficult to start, but once running, it was fine. Although it had a pretty widely oscillating tempo. Fast and slow... fast and slow. But later in the afternoon, I bought a new air cleaner to replace the totally ruined one that was on it. Actually... I had been running it without the air cleaner to facilitate the Sea Foam treatment and I also doubted that it would even run with the gummed up old filter. Anyway... with the new air cleaner on, the oscillating tempo was gone... ran as smooth as could be! I didn't get to the points today. Where I got my parts, they had the replacement coil that does away with the points. It was $36... didn't buy it. But might, if you think it would help with the starting. I do have to yank on the cord quite a bit to get it running. BTW... last night, I didn't have much hope for the engine as my compression test showed only about 50 lbs. But it sure doesn't run like it has low compression. Thanks to all for your suggestions. Perhaps I can keep this little engine running for a long time.

Wow Jane, I am tired just reading about what all you did! Sounds like a wonderful time and lots of work and effort on your part. What a large group to entertain! So nice that your DH helps you with the decorating. Mine does not help with the inside at all. I carry everything up from the basement including the trees, all the boxes, ladders, etc. The only thing he does outside is put a blow mold Santa on our mailbox, although this year, he did run an extension cord from the backyard for some of the lights as they kept tripping the breaker this year! Again, getting everything down out of the rafters, off of the shelves, and put up is up to me! Sorry, I just needed to vent a little. I get a bit envious when I hear of other DH's that help with decorating. Anyway, looking forward to your pix. TFS, Candy

Oh, Maggie, I agree, I just love those little 4 ounce jars, they're perfect for things like hot sauce and jam. I have that issue of CI too, Sherry, you're going to like it a lot, I think. Annie

Hi rusty ... and everyone. Sorry that you're feeling so dragged out by that darn housework ... that never seems to end. And folks - what with the new look to take place around old rusty's home soon ... ... what say we take up a collection to get a new stainless steel bucket for her, to replace the deteriorated one that she's been harbouring for so long, huh? I got busy and dusted and swept out my bedroom the other day, herding the dust bunnies right into the composting pail, to take out to fertilize the garden. Don't tell me that in taking on that task I may be putting myself at risk of getting shingles! Oh, Lordy! That'll make it even more difficult summoning up the energy to get after the dust bunnies in the other rooms! Life do have its problems, don't it?? Good wishes to everyone as you go about your Christmas or other holiday preparations. ole joyful
