When did you start to notice issues with the surface? Was it always rough? Scott

Ok. I am totally confused. Please straigten me out. We signed our paperwork several weeks ago and started looking at tile. Our builder offered Master Tile at that time and Diamond Brite for plaster choices. Today we went in to look again for some different tile selections to bring home and now they are offering Noble Tile instead of Master Tile. They said they could do either one for us, but they only have Noble Tile now on their wall for customers to choose. Is there a difference between tile companies as far as one better than the other, Master versus Noble? Also very confused on the plaster. We are written up in our contract for Diamond Brite, but now since they are using Noble Tile, the plaster choice is colors from the Noble Designer Series. The color choices are Biscayne Bay, Bora Bora, Caspian Sea, Diamond Reef, Emerald Bay, Marina Cay, Mediterranean, Regatte Blue and Seneca Falls. They said if we wanted Diamond Brite we could still do it, but the choices now for their customers is from the Noble Designer series. Is one better than the other as far as looks and durability? Please help me! I am so confused.

I know this thread is years old, but Teppy, if you're still around, would be very interested in a picture of the DB blend that you ended up with (as well as how you feel about the DB after almost 10 years). Generally interested if others have recent input re DB or other finishes - we are in the midst of new pool construction and trying to figure out surface finish. We had originally intended to go with just regular old white plaster (marcite), as that is what we have in our pool in Florida that was built in the early 80s and has never been refinished and is still in decent shape. But now we have learned, and keep hearing, that marcite is not the same as it used to be (mainly b/c they can no longer use asbestos in the mix) and doesn't hold up anything like it used to, so we are thinking to avoid that. We're thinking probably an aggregate of some sort, but want a pretty smooth surface (DON'T like PebbleTec at all). Our pool builder is most familiar with DB, but we're also talking to a company that uses Wet Edge products - we particularly like the Luna Quartz line. So any experiences re Diamond Brite, Wet Edge, or any other surface finishes for that matter, would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Your pool contractor or the plaster contractor should give you the guidelines on chemical start procedures, balancing and caring during the first 2 weeks, and then going forward after the curing process is complete. It's best to hire a company for the start up. Documenting findings during testing and adjustments made will be to your benefit. Proper water chemistry on newly plastered pools is essential. I've seen plaster ruined in 2 weeks for improper care. Call the plaster manufacturer or search National Plasters Council. They have guidelines on proper care.
