Oh my goodness! ha too funny. That would have scared me to death though.

I used to when I was young and fearless, never got off the beginner's slope. Bought some skis off of a neighbor along with the boots, they had belonged to her grown son who was in the Army. You can imagine how long those skis were - old ones too.
Never took a lesson thus missed out on how fun skiing could really be. Now days I would be to chicken to even try.

I thought I was done skiing....my hubs always hbated skiing. We would go with friends on a trip every year and he never felt comfortable, as they were all seasoned skiiers. This time, I stayed at his comfort pace the whole time, and we had a blast. Lesson learned.
I was inspired by all the older folks I saw there....more grey hair than not, actually! The big drawback though....sooooooo expensive! Holy garbage it cost us an arm and leg for gear and passes. Good gear makes a big difference in the experience too.

We haven't skiied in years.....but we own all our own gear. I used to brag I had a new outfit for every time I'd ever been.....:0) Now I have to store aaaaaaaaaaaall that stuff! :0) We live 2 hours from some of the best skiing in th world.....

I went skiing once....on a blind date. Horrible date, horrible day and I don't like snow.
But mice don't bother me.......

lol...no skiing for me! but 2 of my kids have introduced the sport to their kids....slopes in se mi are for the most part manmade and nothing like real mountain slopes...think there is one or 2 on the west side of the state but never have seen them..

so far, no mice!

I went to ski at Mt. Bachelor a few times when I was in school, when I had $20. Seemed like a ton way back when. Now I'm too afraid to ski, thinking I might break something. What a big baby I am. I hope you're having a wonderful time!

Glad you are having a great trip. A mouse -- eek! We are skiers too. My first ski trip was a college spring break trip to Aspen. Loved the town, but not the skiing. After we married, DH and went on a few trips with friends and, as my skills improved, I began to really enjoy skiing.

By the time DD was six we started taking her at least once a year, which soon turned into two trips a year. Usually one trip to Steamboat Springs (which we fell in love with on our first visit) and one someplace else. Over the years we've skied in the Heavenly and Kirkwood in the Lake Tahoe area; Park City, Deer Valley, Alta and Snowbird in Utah; Taos, NM; Big Sky, Mt; Jackson Hole, Wy; and other Co resorts - Vail, Telluride Breckinridge, Keystone.

Fifteen years ago, we settled on Steamboat and bought a condo (have since bought a house there). When DD graduated from college, she moved to Steamboat "for a year." That was 12 years ago! She is now married, has a great job, and is a true "local."

Yep, we plan to retire there in a few years. We regularly run into skiers well
into their 70s -- they are our role models!

I used to enjoy skiing but I wish someone would invent a way to magically get you into all those clothes and transport you to the top of the slope. I always just found it such a pain to get into the layers (of course I had to pee as soon as I got the last zipper zipped no matter if I'd just gone), gather up goggles, pass, tissues, hat, gloves, lip balm, lunch money, then go out in the freezing cold and waddle to the chair lift. After that, it was fun!

Once I took some classes it was more fun than ever. Now I would crack into pieces if I tried it. My son loves snowboarding.

If I found a mouse in my glove, I'd croak.

My friend's 80-something Mother walked into her living room and sat on a chair. She felt something underneath her and found a dead dried out bat!

My sole experiment with skiing was an overnight at a little ski 'hill' near Chicago with a friend. No lifts, just tow ropes. I've never been an athletic girl and never enjoyed the cold. I had zero strength in legs, ankles or stomach muscles, so you can imagine how much I enjoyed this. My friend was keen on the hot rum drinks that evening; just one was too much for me in my weakened condition. I 'embraced the bowl' all night while she continued partying. I was barely able to drive us home the next morning.

I used to love to ski but then I got arthritis in both knees and had to give it up when I was in my 50s. I lived 3 plus hours from Lake Tahoe and loved to ski at Heavenly Valley and Northwood. I put DS in ski school when he was 7 and he skied too fast for me. He skied this year at Tahoe and had to rent skls because his old ones were outdated, I need to give my skis to Goodwill. Lift tickets at Tahoe are now $70 something a day!

Lord, I thought you were going to say a nice $20 bill or something! EEK!!

I used to like a day of skiing, but honestly now I am scared of falling and hurting myself. Conditions around here aren't great (more icy) since we don't get lots of snow.

DH is a great skier and has friends who live in Colorado, so he goes out there once in a while and gets spoiled! LOL He is dying to get our DDs out there.

That is funny! I used to both downhill and cross counry ski alot but this past summer I put the cross country skis and shoes in my garage sale. What a surprise when a potential buyer opened the boot box and both boots had baby mice in them!!! Apparently the lid wasn't on tight! Didn't bother the buyers as they took them out in the hay field and dumped them out! :) It always amazed me how young some of the little skiers were and they were quite good!

what a nice home for the mouse. I was so afraid you were gonna say a live brown recluse that it him or something harmful. Whew. Much funnier!
