more pics/advice aqua blue v. prism blue pebble sheen

We are having a horrible time deciding b/t aqua blue and prism blue. We have a large baja shelf (10x6) and are concerned about it just looking grey with the prism blue. But, we have seen so many variations of aqua blue some very very bright. We are looking for nice blue tropical water but we have to clearly see the bottom (3 young kids). Any more pics or advice? Anyone with aqua blue out there that can comment on how bright it is in person? We are in northern virginia and have not been able to see either in person. Thanks so much!

I agree,after internet searches there are not tons of pics of Aqua Blue. I am having my pool plastered tomorrow 6/25.
I am using Desert Tan on the Baja shelf and Aqua Blue in the main body of the pool.
one of these days I will learn how to post pics!!

dc solah - I have been searching the internet trying to find examples & your right, it's difficult. A lot of pool places have a great gallery but do not indicate what the tile and/or finish is. That would be a nice addition to their websites and might help sell more of the products they have available to customers. You may have already seen these but just in case I did find some pictures of the prism blue that ppl have posted on here. Link below. Good luck!

wetdog, i actually did a search on the forums to see how to do it because I had never posted pictures either but it wasn't too hard. I used Photobucket to upload my photo's (it was free) and once I put them all in an album I just copied the address from the top of the screen and then pasted it into the Optional Link URL section on the forum. You then just put in a name for the link (like Desert Tan) and then post. If you are just wanting to post one or two pictures all I did was copy the HTML tag that is below the picture in Photobucket and then pasted it directly into your msg. Hope that helps!

Mine is around 20,000 gallons (deepest part is only 5 feet) with dimensions of 36'6" by 24' with 2 lights. Sounds like you have a big pool. Maybe you should get 3? Maybe that's overkill? If you are worried about it being too dark I would definetely get some builder's advice.

I'm in total agreement with you about green! Green = algae = not in my pool! Our plaster guy was really pushing Tahoe Blue, not sure why, although I got a hint from one of the installers that it might be one of the cheaper mixes. Anyhow... After looking at many, many pictures online and talking to people, I found that Tahoe Blue definitely has a bit of green to it. I'm guessing it's named after a lake because natural bodies of water are green-blue because of plants living in them. The ocean only looks pure blue on Sandals Resorts commercials. ;) We were between Midnight Blue and Tropics Blue and ended up using Tropics Blue (Stonescapes mini pebble) and we really like it. I think it's as close to a true medium blue as I've seen in a pool. It's dark enough to capture a little bit of heat but light enough to see the bottom clearly, and it has a really beautiful shimmer when the sun is on it. And we really like how the actual pebbles look where you can see them on the steps and in the spa. It's a really nice mix of colors. Now at some moments it might have a touch of the windex-look you're talking about. Thanks for that, by the way, I was calling it Kool Aid! But overall, it's a really nice, rich, shimmery, medium blue. I suggest that you search online for images of the exact color names you're looking at. Look at many pictures and take in the whole range. Don't just focus on one image you like because there's no guarantee of how exactly it will look in your pool, in your yard, with your sunlight, etc. Good luck!

We just finished & filled last week. we viewed as many pebblesheen colors as we could, aqua, turtle, ocean & prism. IMO aqua was bright & light, needed to keep sunglasses on to view in bright sun. turtle had greenish tint, ocean very nice but to dark with shadows in our yard... we went with prism and we love it. water is a nice blue with alittle hint of teal. didnt care about the abalone shells when deciding but now we love that too.very happy with interior look as well, steps etc. Here is a link that might be useful:

I don't really care that much, I just find it interesting that our installers stick to what the corporation themselves claims to be true colors, but because some installer claims it then it's considered truth. PebbleTec themselves is saying it's not legitimate- doesn't that mean anything to anybody?

Here are some pix of my prism blue. A friend of mine has aqua blue, I don't have any pix of hers but its very pretty. In person the aqua is much brighter than I expected. IMO the aqua is more of a neon blue and the prism is more a light tealish blue. My prism really changes tones sometimes its a teal blue other times its more smokey blue, or even a royal. Its not too dark, you can always see the bottom. The shallow steps in the aqua look very blue.The steps/benches in my prism do look grey-blue from a distance, up close you see all the colored pebbles.

Did you ever consider Blue Granite PS....that is very pretty. Its similar to Tahoe blue in PT. Its the color in between the 2 you are looking at. I like it better than Aqua Blue. Prism blue is very nice, the pebbles have a mix of colors. Blue granite has very natural looking pebbles....definately one you should try to see.

Thank you all so much! The baja shelfs in the above pics don't look too gray. We are leaning away from Aqua Blue now because we definitely don't want a neon color. We will have PA Blue Slate Coping and decking and just want a nice lagoon look. We will have to take a look at Blue Granite now too. Thank you all again!

We're using a Pen Blue coping as well. We're also considering Blue Slate, Prism and Ocean Blue. How did yours turn out? What did you go with? Did you get your Lagoon?
