Pool finally finished-pics to share!

We finally completed our pool after 4 long months of construction. It was a complicated design and site, but worth it. Here is a picture of the yard before:

Gorgeous! You really achieved a natural look to blend in with the surroundings. We are also in a very wooded area and our hoping for a similar look. Hopefully we are about 2 weeks away from filling. What is your pool finish....black pearl pebble tec ?

Hi everyone and thanks for looking at my creations!! I LOVE all the posts!! Luvs- If you only knew how many works I have in progress. Not to mention the ideas floating around in my head! I think I dream ideas!! Foxy- I'm just glad that I can share with you. Between gardenweb and photobucket, I wan't sure it was going to happen. Personal victory! lefd05- I have to water my tipsy pots twice a day. Should probably water three times since they are pretty close to the concrete dirveway. They don't hold a lot of dirt or water since they are plastic. I'm very much into thinking BIG! We should talk! snickysnacker- the watering can was a last minute thought. Can't take the credit for it...so it on a site posted on page like 60-something. My dad actually thought it was rigged up to be a watering system for the whole thing! Wish it could be! dinajean- I am inspiration?!? [Sniff, sniff] That is me wiping away a tear. I think tipsy pots would look soooooo good in the fall with warm colors and things like that. Also, plants wouldn't dry out as quickly. I bought the pig at Ceramo (a factory in my town that makes ceramic pots some with galze, some without, planters of all shpaes and sizes, etc. A couple times a year they open their factory up to the public to purchase.) Anywho, I bought bigpig there, brought her home, held her down and started to mosaic. Only frustrating thing was that Hobby Lobby kept running out of my pink glass! I love the bigpig, too!

tropical paradise - That's an absolutely beautiful pool! I love your rock work, it looks so natural! You must be absolutely thrilled. Bring on the warm weather :) You asked for opinions on your landscaping - you have a lot of large trees in the background beyond your fence, so I would plant several (one or two) taller plants in your yard as well as smaller to help it flow seamlessly from your backyard to the view beyond. I see flowers in the picture very close to the pool, those are beautiful and add lots of color. I'm not sure where you're located, so that will really determine what kind of plants you can use. I'm guessing from your name you like the tropical look, so if the climate there can handle it, why not fill in with many tropical plants and bright colors? No matter what you plant - it's already a stunning pool! I don't think you can really go wrong with anything. The pool is such a beautiful focal point.

Hey man looks like you did a stand up job fixing your pool by reading the comments. For some reason I am unable to see the pictures. I would love to see them though if you would be willing to send them to me? Also I just recently purchased a fixer upper house myself with a pool in the back yard. The previous owners filled it in with dirt when they got to old to take care of it. After digging a little of it up I have determined that it was a liner pool that was a wood frame. I intend to undertake the project myself in time. I would love any and all advice from you if you would be willing to email back and forth me a little. Row797@hotmail.com

Not sure why it duplicated my post or how to delete it? Lynn2006 - Thanks to beekeeperswife's tips, we used Latricrete's Perma Color in bright white. We had to get it at a local tile store since they don't carry it at Lowes or HD. One bag was $17 on special :) We barely had enough, but mainly because we wasted a bunch in the beginning trying to figure out the best way to grout.

Wow, that's wonderful! We also have black pearl PT in a wooded setting. Love the neagative edge too. Congrats on a job well done and enjoy!

Thanks for the compliments! We really love the way it turned out. Our finish is black onyx quartz plaster. We wanted pebble tec..had it in our previous pool, but the PB wanted 13K additional and we just couldn't justify the cost. We are happy with the quartz even though we are nervous that it will be more succeptible to problems down the road.

It looks amazing!!! Wonderful plan and execution! :) Can I ask a question about the darker pool? We live on a farm and I've seen my share of snakes...I am thinking of getting a crystal Bahama clear blue clear as ice pool because I'm so afraid the darker pool (which I prefer because it would go so GREAT with the aesthetics of our farm/woods) will not let me see potential snakes, mice or whatever might be lurking...it's hard to tell from the picture but when you stand next to it can you pretty well see clearly to the bottom??

That is one of the most stunning pools I have seen on this forum. I love how it looks like a little lake or pond that dribbles down into the woods. Gorgeous!!

eyoung: the deck is stamped and scored concrete with 3 colors used. It is very hot in the sun...probably should have gone lighter, but it was the look I wanted.

Tara: Yes, you can see down to the bottom when standing at the side. I think if you did a visual inspection before getting in you would see any critters lurking there. So far only tree frogs in ours. We have friends who have a pool in the woods and they have found snake skins, but never a snake. Hope to never see one!

Your pool is one of the most 'natural' looking pools with so much appeal!!! Give us more info on your pool---how deep is it and what are the dimensions? LOVE the infinity edge!!! Right next to that beautiful waterfalls!!! So serene!!!! Awesome...

Finished out great! Everything looks nice together nestled in the woods.....my favorite kind of pool!

You even have landscaping already....looks very nice and love the way the stamped concrete turned out.

so now that you have been swimming in your pool for a season---any comments about your finish or other features---
is the spa across the pool under the trees? where the little waterfall is?
do you wish it were closer to the patio? how to you walk there...
guess you have enough surrounding trees that there is shade during the day--no need for umbrella posts...

what type of system--salt water? ozone?
what type of pump and how many gallongs
if you don't mind giving that info

We are anxiously awaiting some warmer weather to begin our swimming season this year. The pool was so great last summer. To answer your questions...
We do not have a spa...behind the pool is the basin for the infinity edge.
Despite all the trees we have enough sun that we use an umbrella in the tanning ledge and a couple more on the patio.
We have a salt system...not sure if I'm too happy with it...takes some getting used to vs. our old pool with chlorine.
We have 4! pumps on this pool (wish I had realized that before construction) one for main filter, one for vanishing edge, one for waterfall, one for bubblers in tanning ledge.
The pool is 26K gallons in all...just large enough for us.
