Advice on painting the Presure Treated frame of my IPE deck
Comments (1)I used a high-hiding oil based all-purpose primer, Benjamin Moore 024 00, then applied topcoat of 100% acrylic latex point. After two years it is still in perfect condition, with no bleed through from the newer high-copper wood preservative. The trick is to leave the pressure treated wood exposed to the elements for at least a couple of months before attempting to paint. Don...See MoreAzek decking and Ipe rails
Comments (7)Would love to see the photos, but when I click on it the only thing I get is a cat food commercial. I'm fairly new to this, what am I doing wrong? We are about to embark on a deck redo also and have looked extensively at Azek. I'm going to do the floor in Acacia color and the railing in Kona (because there is no railing in Acacia). To tie it together I'm going to have the second board in from the outside be in Kona and the Kona color railing will go on the outside board which will be the Acacia.....just trying to change it up a bit. Your comments are letting us know we are on the right track....especially about the ketchup and wine as we entertain outside a lot. Thanks for the informative post....See Morehelp!!! ipe deck problem
Comments (5)I just washed my deck with the Penofin step 2 cleaner. Very satisfied with it. It even got rid of the end sealer wax stains (with the addition of simple green but I don't think it was necessary). I plan on using the Penofin hardwood sealer. It wasn't easy though since I scrubbed the surface with a deck scrubber brush really well. Can't you get Penofin online somewhere if it's not available locally?...See MoreCan I use a percarbonate cleaner as my only ipe deck maintenance?
Comments (10)Ya got to figure,,say the plug joints are all real good,TB111 is some good a@s glue no doubt I use it my very own self. But here you are, all glued joints need protection inside and out inside its temp control and no sunlite outside its the finish that has water/mildew/uv protection with the given all those joints are tight and holding. A person uses a high power bubble get in there and get that stuff out leach out the top leval, killer cleaner like the Major Ken Bubba makes, on a regular, I am just wondering how many times it will take for the cleaner to get into the joint/joints and have a little party with the glue. Just wondering Guys! if you try it I am very intersted like in a year or so if the Chem got in there and weakened a few of the plugs in a bad way or if nothing happened and youall got away with no finish at all.
