Darker Pool Finishes do make a difference

In the past, I've seen people ask or theorize about whether a dark-finished pool has a significant effect on water temperature so I thought I'd share my recent experiences. My pool was completed at the end of last September, so I am experiencing my first full summer this year. I live in west central Florida, and my pool is Midnight Blue PT.

Yesterday I came home from the office, changed into my swim trunks, and went straight for the pool (a ritual these days). When I jumped in, I immediately noticed that the pool felt much warmer than it has in previous weeks. I took a look at the thermometer I keep in the skimmer, and it read 90 DEGREES! Now, I've got a 5-foot high rock waterfall which should help cool things down, but my pump had only been on for two hours. Also, my pool is not screened in.

At any rate, I thought I would share this as I was extremely surprised to see that the temp got so high.
