Spring/Early Summer Table
Comments (9)DH & I bought several bird statues to give as Christmas gifts when we first got married 25 years ago, Luvs. One of them was the chickadee statue and I've been regretting giving it away ever since. This past Christmas Season I decided to start looking for it again. I found several other ones on Ebay, on flowers and such, butnot that specific one. Although I hadn't thought of it, your idea of using it in a centerpiece with my pinecone dishes is WONDERFUL! Now, I really need to start searching for it once more. I'm glad you mentioned that. Thanks! Lynn...See MoreSubtle changes in decor: fall/winter to spring/summer
Comments (25)I live in California, in a house not a department store. I also have more of a winter house with dark wood, brown leather furniture and fall colors. I do change things seasonally. For starters I kept my wall color and rug color and window treatments a neutral, that would go with all seasons colors. Great suggestions here so far. I second the Mantel for decorating seasonally. I change the mantel for holidays and seasons. Now I have two rabbits on it and a white wreath and scattered eggs for Spring and Easter. Put away the throws on the couch. Or change the color of the throw and throw pillows, and accessories in the room. Wow Gracie01, I have to say picking art out is tough enough, I don't think I could do it for every season. That is amazing. Plus I don't have the storage if I did. I too, change the bedding for the seasons and use lighter colors in the spring/summer months. I change the front porch to reflect the season or the holiday. I second the spring cleaning and window washing idea. The removing of the drapes idea and leaving the sheers was a great idea. Better Homes and Gardens.com is a good sourse for seasonal decorating, you might go look there for some ideas. Have fun with it!...See MoreCan I see your round kitchen/dining tables?
Comments (29)What do you think of this one? I have cherry cabinets so it would match and it seems pretty simple. I'm toying with the idea of just getting the table and then getting chairs made by Carrington Court as suggested. I can't see the product anywhere near me which makes me a little nervous and I've never shopped JC Penney before. Here is a link that might be useful: JC Penney table...See MoreWhat makes a spring veg garden fail and a summer one succeed?
Comments (21)In all the granular fertilizer, the nitrogen can volatilize and be released into the atmosphere due to many factors. I learned that years ago when a got my nutrient management specialist certification. Dr. Feagley, Texas A and M Soil Specialist taught the course. They do have nitrogen stabilizers that have become popular that will protect the nitrogen from breaking down for a week or more, depending on how much they apply. That is one of the main reasons they always suggest incorporating by tillage or irrigation. Sunlight and moist soils are two of the biggest culprits. The worse thing to do is apply fertilizer to a wet bare soil. A heavy dew will also cause the nitrogen to be released. If it is applied to a pasture, the nitrogen will be protected somewhat since it is shaded. I have heard you will lose 50% at two weeks. Saturated soil can also cause nitrogen to be released. If you receive 1/2 inch of rain, that is enough to get the nitrogen into the soil. Anything less and it can cause more nitrogen to be released. If you are not expecting rain in the next couple of days, it is best to wait or incorporate nitrogen fertilizer. In my area, all the farmers watch the weather forecast and the day before a rain is forecast, they all try to buy the fertilizer and rent the spreaders to get it out. They really complain when the weatherman forecast 100% rain and still do not get a rain for a couple of weeks. Basically, they wasted half their money....See Moreigloochic
