Denny wants to rent a movie tonight...We don't have a clue what is out there...

What new releases have you seen you can recomend...

Since DH has been off of work, we have been watching tons of movies. We have watched lots of okay movies. But one movie that I absolutely LOVED was Stardust.

Some others that I liked were:
Dan In Real Life
Across the Universe
Alvin And The Chipmunks
310 to Yuma

Just to name a few.

I hope you have a nice restful movie night. :)

Pidge, Wasn't A Thousand Splendid Suns a terrific book? It's a book group book for sure. I just watched two French films from NetFlix. The first wass "La Vie en Rose", a bio-ppic of Edith Piaf, snd it was great with all those wonderful songs. Of course her life was sad, sad, sad & way too short, but whaat a voice! The other was "Je T'aime Paris" (and I know I'm not spelling that right.). It's a series of love stories tht are only 5 minutes long, each done by a different director & each each one is set in one of the arrondismonts (sp again!) of Paris. It's amazing how much can be told in 5 short minutes & it seems like 50% of all the actors in France or Hollywood are in the vignettes. I want to rent it again & really try & match up the directors & the stories in my mind. It was an extrememly clever idea for a movie.

I half-watched it on the plane out to Honolulu. I didn't find it at all fascinating. My opinion matchhes the OP's. I think that age can be a factor. There are only just so many themes for stories. By the time you are a Senior you've seen countless 'takes' on every theme. I require better writing and acting than this movie had to become invested in what should have been an interesting real-life story. Too much adolescent angst. Maybe the real-life circumstances were too thin to spin into a 'tale'. A movie doesn't have to be 'artsy'. We just dragged ourselves through highly acclaimed, excruciatingly vapid film by Francis Ford Coppola: "Tetro". The plot had great possibilities, but they came to no good end (or beginning, or middle).

We saw it and we both liked it. There was one time when the whole place laughed so hard that we could hardly make noise and then end up snorting. Maybe some of you don't know what I mean. We seldom go to movies, but this sounded interesting. I recommend it!

Um..what about Roger Moore? We saw Casino Royale. The first movie DH and I agree we really didn't like at all. So there you go, two opinions.

I watch very few movies, but a couple of months ago watched, "Stranger Than Fiction" and loved it. It has Will Ferrell. I like him on Saturday Night Live, but have never been interested in his movies. This one looked interesting and it is. Linda

Perfect Stranger with Hally Berry - excellent. Another great one is Black Book - it is about the War in Germany with the Nazis and the Resistance, I watched it twice, very good.

That is one you could watch with the grand kids too. I loved that movie!

I just watched "Trade" with DH last night....he complained that I am always on the computer and wanted me to watch a movie with him. So I did....it was good. A little slow, but scary to think it really happens. It was based an a NY times magazine story about international sex trafficking. A brother looking for his 13 year old sister who was kidnapped and was going to be sold into sexual slavery. Very scary to think about all the kids that are caught up in this nightmare.
