I watched it too. I'd started reading the book in California, but then couldn't find it. I think it followed the book as far as I'd read. I thought it was a good movie too.

I read the book and really didn't care for it. Too many questions in my mind regarding motive on everyones part. The movie followed the book closely but the only question I had was why did they put those dreadful wigs on both the boy and the girl. :-)

For those that missed it yesterday it will be on again on Lifetime twice today (Sunday) and once Monday. I missed it yesterday and will record it today.

Jodi, I never understand why the Lifetime movies always do something stupid. In Terilyn's thread, I mentioned hoping the movie would be better than most Lifetime movies normally are. I find that even seasoned actors are poorly directed, and they look like bad actors. There's always something. With this movie, the acting, directing, and storyline were good enough, but there were those wigs as if anything could make them necessary. Another thing was the baby being inadequately bundled out in that snow storm - wrapped in a thin hospital blanket and nothing over her in the box. I didn't want to rag on the movie because it was basically a good one, but there's always something regrettable.

I started to watch but could only sit through the first 30 minutes of it. I'm not sure why but, after 30 minutes I decided that I knew what was going to happen and I did not want to watch so many dumb mistakes being made by people I really did not like very much. From what I saw, it followed the book. I turned back to it at the very end to see Paul and Nora drive up to the apt, walk into the back yard and meet Pheobe. If I can catch it tomorrow I'll try to sit for the entire movie.

I enjoyed the book and thought the movie was pretty good. I wondered about those terrible wigs too. The ending of the movie didn't quite follow the book, but I thought it was okay.

I watched parts it and thought it was Ok, but frankly, the frequent ads for it from a month ago until it was finally on pretty much made me sick of it before it started.

I'm just glad it's over because it seemed that every commercial break was advertising this one movie. I hate when they do that; it makes me think that it must really, really need the hype. It lessons the value in my mind.

OK, Kids, I watched it almost all the way through last night. I missed one section of it...when Nora starts her affairs, after the one she had while they were on vacation, but I think I saw most of it. It was OK. They did not follow the book exactly. I was waiting to see how they worked in Pauls' Breakdown in Pittsburg. As I remember that breakdown triggered his quest/need to find his childhood home and all the sadness and squaller he grew up in. That's when he met the girl, brought her back to Lexington where she lived in his house for a while. They also left out all that jogging he did. Wasn't that how and when he died in the book...jogging? Or do I have that wrong?

Anyway, I'm glad I made myself watch.

I haven't read the book, but I thought it was an okay movie. Yes, the hair thing was a bit much. I went to get myself a dish of ice cream and missed the beginning of the funeral scene. Who/what was buried? Obviously it wasn't Phoebe.

I always wonder about the stories/movies where a son doesn't want to follow in the ways the parents want them to, and usually, he takes up a a guitar or maybe drums, grows his hair long and splits. Geesh! Can't the writers think of anything else?

Sue, the husband told his wife that Phoebe died right after birth. The wife sorta passed out after she gave birth and he took it as an opportunity to "get rid of" the baby and she never saw her. She insisted they have a funeral for her, so yes, the funeral was for Phoebe but obviously there was no dead baby.

I read the book last summer & thought the movie followed it pretty closely. I enjoyed both, altho the hype on the radio & on TV a few days before it aired was really getting tiresome.

Thanks, Steph. I saw the part where the baby was born and the Mom passed out and the baby was handed off, etc. Next thing I saw was a funeral. I just had to wonder how the husband managed that. . .
