Eric, that cultivar of Phytolacca americana is quite striking. I wonder if it would seed true? Pokeweed is one of the weediest plants on my lot, and one of the few wild natives that competes effectively with the exotic invasives. The same suspects that NHbabs deals with - buckthorn, oriental bittersweet, Rosa multiflora, etc. One other "worst weedy" is the species Eupatorium rugosum which I started from seed. If you think the chocolate version is weedy, you should see the regular green version. Rampant grower and seeder in shade or drought, and none of the critters eat it. At least it's native and the flowers are pretty, and the bumblebees love them.

All - Thanks very much for the input in my second round of name that garden! My apologies for taking so long to reply, but I've been off traveling this week. I've updated the names on the pictures posted on-line and have included some additional comments below: 1 - Of course. I should have noticed the similarities in the leaves with my other heuchera. What threw me off was that my other heuchera is blooming like crazy, while this one doens't seem particularly happy. Do I need to get this into full sun? 2 - I suspected this may be a tulip, but I thought tulips were history (leaves and all) by June? What looks like daylily leaves is, I think, spiderwort grown amuck. 3 - Thanks for the correction on this. I've been calling it my bed of English Ivy. 4 - Do the different colors of the columbine typically have different names? Or, are they typically referred to as just purple, white, and blue columbine? 7 - I think you're right about the festiva maxima. I found some pictures on-line that look exactly like some other blooms I had...white with a splash of crimson in the center. (You can't really see the red in the photo I posted.) 9 - I'm impressed you were able to identify the Spirea Anthony Waterer from the lousy pictures I posted. It looks like in the next few days to a week, this is going to burst into bloom...pink clusters of tiny flowers that look like other pics I found on-line. Nice work! 10-12 - I'll try to post these on the name that rose forum. Thanks for the pointer. 14 - Perhaps Deutzia Scabra (Fuzzy Deutzia)? This one seems to die back to the ground during the winter, and grows no more than a couple of feet tall. The stems have a spotted appearance, and look like they have leprosy. Is this a typical characteristic, or do they indeed have some sort of disease? 19 - Voilets have been a real problem in my garden/lawn as they're very invasive and difficult to pull out by hand. (I found I have to get underneath the soil to get at a little white "node", otherwise I can't get at the roots.) And, it's impossible to hand weed out of the lawn. Any suggestions on this one? 20 - Well, this plant, which I've been tempted to rip out for quite some time because I thought it was a weed, finally started to bloom. Linda suggested campanula (perhaps Campanula Persicifolia?). Thanks, Raven. I'm sure he's behind on lots of stuff. Early in 2009, I had him change his update settings to notify him of updates, but not automatically download. That was to hold off on sp1 (at a time when I think I read here that folks were having trouble with it - but I didn't follow that topic, so didn't realize sp1 had become a good idea and that sp2 followed). We also set it that way bc. his computer was automatically updating and then rebooting when he was in the middle of doing other things. So this was to allow him to time his own downloads and installations. But he just never thought of it - and I didn't think I needed to keep track for him. I do keep track of his Avast, superantispyware, malwarebyte and spywareblaster. Every now and then when he's done surfing I have him leave out the laptop and go ahead and update and scan. I'll have to keep track of more than that, obviously. I got foxit reader on my ancient laptop in my office and love it. It takes so little room and does what I need quickly. Do you like pdf-xchange viewer more than foxit reader? Or does he need to use firefox to use foxit reader? I installed firefox for him - and set up tabs with the places he likes to go (did that in the summer) - but he hasn't used it. He's a bit resistant to tech changes. He balked when I got Tivo's - although he loves it now. He's a musician - and I got him Protools so he could record the music he wrote. That was over 1 1/2 years ago - and he hasn't learned it yet - he's barely scratched the surface. Last spring he bought an Imac bc. it was better for recording music. And now he's finally setting up his den and equipment. I'm hoping he'll actually learn the software this year. I'll take care of the rest for him so the only learning curve he has is Protools (certainly the most challenging of them all). But I digress. I'll check his other updates and run Secunia - I'm pretty sure I already put that on his computer last year. Thanks. Lynn.

Yo Ken, if your still around your up on this one. Far as Composites go I am with the Larry/whoever We are for the most part. Composites are really no longer using recycled material because there is just not enough of it so most of the raw stuff is virgin,the energy used to make composite is an enviro no no, when its time to remove the project composite is not real big on bio degrade its tricky to burn shreading it would be silly. Bottom line composites are not so enviro freindly. Info like that might suggest its not all that good to clean it either, with anything. I dont agree>> composites will out last Ipe, left to go silver/gray Ipe is as close to no maintance as a person can get. With the softer composites like Choice/MoistureShield even trex= tjunk I have found a coat or two of TWP 116 seals up the decking,locks in the color and keeps mold,mildew,stains from causing major problems. Of course not needing to do this is the reason the Wallet goes for composite in the first place. I my own self dont like composites at all for the reasons stated in several posts here and on other sites. Welcome aboard Larry!!! Sorry I dident understand your intent at the begining . John
