Is Ipe worth $3000 extra???

I am building a rear screened-in porch. It will be 200 sq. ft. and I am having it built by a highly recommended contractor. His proposal included a Douglas fir T&G floor. I asked him how much extra it would cost to have an Ipe floor. He has worked with Ipe before and because of all the extra labor as well as the extra material cost he wants $3000 extra for 5/4 T&G Ipe. This seems like way too much for 200 sq ft. So I have some questions.

Is it worth that much extra for Ipe? If not, my alternatives seem to be either Douglas fir or Phillipine Mahogany which costs the same as the fir. I plan to stain and oil the floor and I don't think the fir would hold up. Another alternative is a ceramic tile for the floor. Can you use tile on an outdoor porch by laying it over plywood?? My best bet may be the mahogany which finishes unevenly but is pretty good in outdoor use.
