Linda, be cool and things will be just fine. You will not get a shock, the computer is at risk from you and static electricity. Everything inside the case except the fans and hard drive are less than 3.5 volts. Fans and hard drives are 12 volt. Remove the power cord from the back of the case before attempting anything inside. Then always rest your bare hand or arm on the metal frame of the computer case to dissipate any static electricity that may be present. The advice to remove both old sticks and insert both new ones is absolutely correct. Just make sure the small slot in the bottom of each stick of RAM is centred over the proper spot on the motherboard and listen for the click as each end clamp pops up to hold the RAM in place as you push down to seat them. You should not have to push the clamps in, they will pop in once the Ram is fully seated.

Would love to see the photos, but when I click on it the only thing I get is a cat food commercial. I'm fairly new to this, what am I doing wrong? We are about to embark on a deck redo also and have looked extensively at Azek. I'm going to do the floor in Acacia color and the railing in Kona (because there is no railing in Acacia). To tie it together I'm going to have the second board in from the outside be in Kona and the Kona color railing will go on the outside board which will be the Acacia.....just trying to change it up a bit. I have no ideas for he use of the money, but commiserate with you about the experience. Many years ago we were robbed--- in a gated community, in a house with an armed alarm system. I had the usual reactions, I guess. A few years later one of the persons who did the crime was working at my house (yep, skilled tradesmen) and he just confessed to me out of the blue. I was shocked--- he was shocked that it came out. I did not call the police. The stuff taken had been all electronic and the claim settled, new stuff bought, the young man was clearly sorry and had agonized over it for two years. The experience made me feel differently about my possessions. I like most of them and treasure a few, but I don't think I would have the same reaction today if our house was robbed again. We have had some break ins at this house(within the past 8years) when we weren't home and one when we were home---- nothing taken--- so we put up a gate and hope that is a better deterrent. But my most prized piece of jewelry was stolen by a household employee's adult daughter who sold it for cash for drugs. The employee was humilated (the daughter never allowed back in our house) but we did not fire her, she needs the job and is a part of our ecosystem here. It's complicated. So my advice is to let go of some of that feeling of ownership because it can't always be relied on. Wait until you do not have to ask anybody what to spend the money on. You will know when it is right--- or maybe saving it will give you a feeling of security.

This is a new era of buying and selling after the real estate "bubble". Two years ago we sold a condo in Florida and a custom mountain lake home in Tennessee. Both buyers were obtaining mortgages, one being a jumbo mortgage. The Florida condo was appraised slightly below selling price. It was completely remodeled by us (new kitchen and two baths, etc.). The inspector told the young lady she would never find a condo in better condition. All new appliances, new water heater, new air conditioner. We owned it for two years, but decided even as snow birds we would rather have a house. But her Daddy told her not to pay over appraisal. The comps were condos in the same development that had never been upgraded or maintained. Many had been rented out. We sold it to someone else for our asking price. They didn't obtain a mortgage. The home in Tennessee was not on the market. A realtor showing another home in the neighborhood asked if they could see our house. They came back with an offer the next day, which was not the greatest offer We decided to accept the offer and move to the Florida house we had purchased two months before. It gets confusing, I know. :) The inspector was ruthless, but came back with nothing wrong in our new custom built home. The pest inspector came back with nothing (yup the bank required it). The appraiser on the other hand was a bit rude. When I said I wasn't too concerned about the appraisal price since the sell price was below tax appraisal value, he said, Oh, we often appraise homes below the tax app. value now. He told us our home was beautiful, but every home in the neighborhood probably had the same upgrades. No they did not. In the end they said there were really no comps, which wasn't true. But the most chilling experience I had was that the two appraisers used exactly the same words in two different states. It is beautiful, but this doesn't count. This is overkill, it doesn't count. Only the comps matter. Only square footage matters. I have bought and sold quite a few homes in my life. In a brand new builder developed area you get the basic house for the price of the model. Upgrades are paid for as an extra expense. Years ago we had no inspectors and no formal appraisals. It seems the banks do not want to pay for the upgrades, and are driving the prices. Now it has eroded into buyers with cash that look at comps and again do not want to pay for the upgrades. Even 11 years ago I sold a home in Ft. Lauderdale by myself (height of the market) and the buyer had an inspector, obtained a mortgage, but no appraiser came to my house. I sold my "model" for a higher price than anyone had ever sold for. Does anyone think that perhaps the banks are running the market??? Money makes the world go 'round.
