As our older son, Nick , entered ther terrible twos, two major changes took place. We moved to another state and then found out we were execting another child. The new baby needed a bed, so Nick graduated to a "big boy" bed. We brought out my childhood bed, which had a headboard and a tall footboard, Still worried that Nick would fall out of the bed, we pushed it up against the wall, leaving only one way to fall out.
As time passed and the height of the terrible twos reached its pinnacle, Nick had an especially bad day. Quoting a familiar expression, I said " You must have gotten up on of the wrong side of the bed."
"it's the only way I can get out!" he responded.

I can just picture that. Did you think it was cute/funny at the time? I think I would have had a hard time keeping a straight face.

Acquaintance was expecting their second child, and had a 2 year old son.

One day Hayden went to his mother and told her to open her mouth, so he could see the baby in her tummy!

Yes Leslie, its been a LONG while. The first week-end in January, so over 6 weeks. She is a total sweetheart! Never ever gives Daddy trouble. (course its not the same story at her Moms house)

HA! Oh, I was ONE of those kids, I'm afraid! My dad's work assistant even knew my father's penchant for taking things home that no one else wanted. So when a coworker came down with a bit of old equipment and asked my dad's assistant if he'd want it, she just laughed and said, "He'll want it. He wants everything." I don't recall what he ended up using it for, but he did use it. Find consolation, Sistersunnie, in knowing someday your kids will think fondly on it all. That's cute--smart boy! A friend of mine had surgery on her broken ankle today, an operation in which they put in a rod and screws. When she got home, her 5-year-old son asked her if she got screwed. When you consider the cost of medical care today, it was not an inappropriate question. LOL

bengardening -- Oh, I LOVE that! So *logical*.

DGS enjoyed his visits to our house, where he had Grandma and Grandpa at his beck and call. His parents would drop him off, then go out for lunch and a movie. We'd do lunch -- and then he'd nap, so he must have been about two.

One day our DS and DIL were chatting with us a bit longer than usual before driving off. DGS became irritated and addressed his parents with, "WHEN are you LEAVING?" (No 'separation anxiety' with that one!)

I love the logic of little kids....and also their names for things. Little ones are so much fun!
