It doesn't look too dark in your pic, but the black mirror & picture frames aren't helping anything. Can you replace those with, or paint them, white/silver/something brighter?

If you don't already have one, a handtowel holder with a nice white/bright towel might help.

I agree with Avesmor, painting the frame and mirror a different color would help. Silver would be beautiful with the wall color and they have spray paint available that would make it very easy to do. Adding some white towels is another helpful idea too

What do you mean by too dark? Does it seem dim when you are trying to see in the mirror? Do you use the room to put on or check makeup?

If not I think powder rooms can be dark and dramatic. I have even been in black ones. If you are just in there for the obvious reason, it doesn't necessarily need to be light.

palimpsest- Yes, I was actually thinking it is dim in there from too little light. I don't really care for the light fixture in there but it is seldom used, really, and like I said, I just love that picture on the wall!!

I too think the paint color is fine. I second the suggestion to add more silver/nickel accents for additional sparkle. And, do change your lighting, add more, if necessary. A bigger mirror will also help reflect the light around the room.

I think I would try different lightbulbs.

I recently painted our tiny powder room in a similar color, only much darker! I added a few more silvery accents (mirror, small shelf unit w/ chrome trim, tissue box, etc) and I think that helps. I really like your color.

We have a windowless powder room. We decided to embrace its darkness and painted the walls and ceiling a very dark blue, almost black! The floor is slate that has a similar dark 'slate' blue in it. The granite is almost black with silver and gray flecks and blue 'jewels'. The powder room accents are silver and chrome but I think most drama was added by the sparkle of light from the 'invisible' tiny black spot lights (on a black track) on the ceiling.
Its amusing, and gratifying, to hear the excited reactions from first time guests!
