Biscuits hot from the oven

Had one right out of the oven with butter, then later two more with my supper. Oh my, I'll have to do the Two Mile Walk exercise program tonight!

I love them with butter and jalapeno jelly. So good! DD send me some JJ everyyear. Love the plum and apricot!

I just ordered the basic RCS 36' it's going to take 3-4 weeks before I receive it so I can't say for sure that the heated door issue has been fixed, but I was told by several salespeople as well as a BS expert that the heat issue on the door has been addressed in the newer models. The doors now have double insulation, and you can see that on the double lined vents in the door. I'm really hoping that this is the case as I have a small child a hot oven door--no matter what oven--is a problem. I will update this if it turns out that the issue hasn't been addressed, but I trust what I have been told verbally and don't think I'll need to update this post.

same subject... redux.. ad nauseum... This is an inditement of modern parenting theory rather than the what the tempurature of a Bluestar (or any other) oven might get to when operated. Guess I am getting really old now... I grew up in a farm house with a wood burning cast iron stove... guarrantee that if a young'un touched it once ... it would never happen again (and none of us did that I am aware of). I wonder what ever happened to "learning life's little lessons?" In fact that stove got so hot we didn't even have to think once, much less twice about staying clear of it!!!! Perhaps we would all be much safer if it was hot enough blister on contact like my grandma's wood stove. Kids will never learn anything, if the parents do all the thinking for them. Or worse, make it so they never have to think for themselves. Does it seem oddly ironic that the less we spank and physically discipline our kids, the meaner and more violent the younger generation becomes?(such as our armed teenagers shooting each other) So much for "time outs"). Personal behavior and consequences is an important lesson for life, becoming more and more overlooked. Oh, forgive me... I do have a microwave that has an instruction manual warning me not to dry my kitty cat in it after her "shampoo". The day when we make everything absolutely 100% safe and risk-free, we will no longer be able to think and reason for ourselves. Then who will we turn to? The government? Hah!

I haven't made these but have eaten them at a friend's house years ago and I remember them as being very tasty. Thanks for the reminder because this thread prompted me to find the recipe she gave me. SHRIMP CHEESE CUPS Âmakes 16 1/4 lb. peeled, cooked shrimp, finely chopped 1 8-oz. package cream cheese, softened 1/4 cup prepared cocktail sauce 1/8 tsp. dried basil 1/8 tsp. garlic powder 1/8 tsp. marjoram 1/8 tsp. oregano 1/8 tsp. thyme 1 8-oz. package refrigerated crescent rolls In small bowl, beat cream cheese with cocktail sauce and seasonings until smooth. Stir in shrimp. Unroll crescent dough and separate into 4 rectangles. Press perforations together. Cut each rectangle lengthwise, then crosswise, into 4 pieces. Press each piece into small muffin cups. Spoon one rounded Tbs. of cheese mixture into each muffin cup. Lap the overhanging edges of the dough over the filling to enclose it. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on rack for 5 minutes before removing from pan. Serve warm with additional cocktail sauce and garnish with any leftover shrimp.

I don't think you can compare that old an oven to what's being sold now. I don't have that configuration because I don't like it, but I know I don't like it because I've experienced it in other people's setups. If you usually wear jeans you may not notice. I usually cook in knee length or shorter dresses, and I don't like it! It feels like a big dog panting on you without the abject adoration that makes the dog somewhat welcome.

Good ole' Bisquick. I wish I could share them with all of you. Perhaps it would be a good thing, then I wouldn't sit and eat one after another, need to save at least a couple for tea tomorrow. Better put them in a container so they stay fresh.

My dad used to pour sorghum into a saucer, mashed up some butter with the sorghum, and put warm biscuit halves on top for sopping!

That was a home of course :o)

Those do look really good Schoolhouse. We had biscuits last night but they were Grands frozen ones. I am mixing up refrigerator yeast roll dough now for tomorrow's noon meal.

Chocolate gravy for biscuirs

1 cup granulated sugar or 1 cup Splenda sugar substitute
1 tablespoon butter
1 1/2 cups milk
2 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (we prefer Hershey's)
Directions:
1 Mix all the dry ingredients in a heavy saucepan with a whisk. Using a whisk blends everything better than a spoon. Stir in the milk.
2 Cook over medium heat stirring constantly. Remove the pot when the mixture is thick like pudding.
3 Add the butter. Stir in until completely melted. Serve over biscuits with a teaspoon of butter dolloped on top.

I haven't made biscuits in weeks, but after seeing yours, I got up this morning and made a pan of biscuits. Served them with ham, eggs, butter and my homemade plum jelly. Delicious!

Try this sometime: grate fresh pepper, just a little bit, on top of each biscuit before baking.

My son's wife thought the idea was fantastic when I served them that way.

Sausage gravy and biscuits is one of my favorites, but I can never make good gravy and hate the jars you buy in the stores. Even the gravy in restaurants just doesn't compare to homemade sausage gravy I've had. My biscuits are gone already so none for this morning's breakfast. :( I just might have to make another batch. Yesterday I took baked chicken off the bone and put it in between buttered biscuit halves like a sandwich. mmmmm. Had two.
