Anyone install Azek decking?
Comments (4)My brother and I have built probably 10 decks using Procell. Now Azek decking. We like working with it. Its much lighter than many of the other materials out there. Easier to tote around 16' boards compared to some of the other products. It is a lot less messier to cut then some other composites. The decking does not seem to stain. We will strike a chalk line across the decking to cut a straight edge, and it will wipe right off with a wet rag. It tends to resist mildew. I really like it. I will be using it on my home remodel. You can also get matching stainless screws that look great if you want to fasten through the face. I think the only downfall is that it can be a little slippery when wet....See MoreAnyone have a deck or porch installed by a contractor?
Comments (0)I am doing a research project for school related to wood materials and I was just wondering if anyone has had a deck or porch installed by a contractor that has come into any issues with their deck or porch after it has been installed? If so I would love it if you could participate in my research project! It is just 4 short questions (ex. what materials were used for the project, what was the outcome of project, did you care about the quality or the price more etc.) please let me know by responding to forum :) -Delia Chen (Student at Western University) https://ca.linkedin.com/in/deliachen email: dechen.hba2016@ivey.ca phone: 416.268.9829...See MoreLast Deck Installed
Comments (5)Got through a hard snowy winter with the Last Deck. Used a leaf blower to blow the snow off and it worked well. A couple times I used a large push broom to push the snow off and that worked out just as well. When the sun hits it any snow melts and evaporates very quickly leaving a dry deck. Can it be slippery. Yes. Early mornings that were damp and below freezing can leave a slippery surface of frost. That leaves quickly when the sun hits it. The extruded in ridges help with any frost, but barefoot can still be slick. It does creak a little bit on very cold mornings, but that goes away after you walk across it once. I usually notice it when I go out to get the morning newspaper. After living with it for the last 9 months or so, we are going to do the same material on our north side deck which is were the flowers pots, grill and deck furniture sit. We have noticed the aluminum is hotter under foot even though wood gets hotter temp wise, the aluminum transfers heat quicker and your foot feels it, kind of like the difference between grabbing a wooden handled pot verses a metal handle. We always use a triangle shaped sun screen with two attachments to the fascia board with large springs, and one to a tree. It allows our Wyoming summer winds to do no damage to the sun shade wing. I can't see any fading, scratches, (I have not gotten down on my hands and knees) or other issues with the color. When we finally get spring and the snow stops, (4-7 inches expected by tonight) I will use a mop and some dish soap and clean it. The dogs paws leave muddy prints. The dogs have learned that trying to get traction with their claws does not work. It took sliding across about ten feet of deck a few times for them to walk on their pads rather than their nails. Still up in the air about railings, but will most likely go with the Last deck Last Railing, but Nexan is also in the running....See MoreAnyone installed a brizo venuto touch faucet in the last year or two?
