Latest Comfort Quilt

Here is my latest comfort quilt. It is for one of our respiratory tech's whose house burned a couple of weeks ago. The colors are really brighter than they look in the picture. Since I am using up fabrics I didn't have enough of a fabric I liked for the back, so I put it on a piece of yellow fleece I had.

Great job, Beverly. I like the idea of the decorative stitch on this, too. Someday I hope to do another one of these.

Beverly that is beautiful!!! I love the framed rails. Your decorative stitching is a beautiful touch, it makes the quilt reversible.
When you use flannel do you also use a batting????? It does look so comfy!!!!!!!!!

One more attempt to post here! - don't know what is up but I haven't been able to post... The block is called 'CLASSIC BLUE' - I got the pattern off the Quilters Cache. The points come together very easy and the blocks work up fast - the prep time goes faster that the sewing! Rainey - the only problem I have about using denim is the weight. I love heavy quilts - they just feel warmer to me. But with older people, I am afraid they wont be able to move them with ease and with babies - they may feel 'trapped' under them. I have everything ready to put it together but know there is no way I would have time to hand quilt it before the auction in May so I was going to just tie it. Then my niece decided that I need to make a 'Wyoming' quilt for her fund raiser auction in March, and she wants it quilted! All the 8th grade student in the county have the opportunity to go to Washington DC but need to raise $1300 to pay for it. Of course, I lost my head (LOL) and said "of course, no problem". I haven't slept a wink since! trying to figure out what to do, buy the material and time it right to quilted it. EEEEK!! THERE ISN'T ENOUGH TIME!! I went to Joanne's and picked up everything to do that quilt, finish this one and 3 others that I want to do. I told one of the ladies that I know there what was going on & she gave me the name of the lady that does all her machine quilting for her. Oh My - life is good again! She said that she would do it and any others I want done for no more than $60 for queen size!!! I think that is a great price - am I right? Now I need to quit talking about them and get to work! :) Marie

Photobucket's gotten more complicated for some reason. Now I have to click on the "Share" button above the thumbnail. When the new window opens, I highlight the long URL in the box that says "Having trouble? Try using this code..." Then I have to go to my toolbar's Edit feature and click "Copy." After all that I can finally go back to my post, hit "Paste" and the picture will be encoded into the message with the usual gobbledygook, but then it does show up in the Preview box.

Charity Doll Quilts, My Guild's latest efforts

Thanks everybody, Yes, a good effort, we're told this particular charity gives American Girl dolls to girls who have been abused & so they've asked for the doll blankets to give as well or with them. Sweet idea, am happy to help & yes, it's a great use of nice sized scraps. Like the sweet sounding teddy bear idea mentioned above. This group I'm told also gives Teddy Bears, to the Boys who've been abused. I show the backs of quilts 'cause I often do something on their back, experiment or play, if I've got the fabric I sometimes can't resist. To me, it's a blank canvas I guess. I often wish I could see the back of peoples' quilts, it matters to me. But I must admit, I thought about this & I don't recollect any doll blankets at all. I learned to sew as a little girl, making doll clothes, a whole wardrobe full, I still have them too, interesting to look at them 50 yrs. later.

Those fabrics are lovely together. How thoughtful of you to make it for someone in need.

Of course, I personally know how thoughtful you are from when I purchased my first home last year and received a plant almost anonymously from someone who signed it with something that looked like an online identity nickname and I had never been to this forum and was really clueless as to who this person was! LOL. But it was very beautiful and thoughtful! I was touched that someone I didn't know would send me a housewarming gift!

Well, the house ended up having to have a couple of big projects that I wasn't counting on; so all the little projects have not been touched. But the house is still standing and it's inhabitable, which is basically all that is needed, correct? I'm grateful that I have it.

You are so right salijo. If it does it's job and it is all yours, then that is a good thing. Ours has reached the age to need some work, but it will have to wait a while. They are not have to haves right now.

I love your quilt. I have a little cold right now and IÂve got a cough drop in my mouth as I read this and I wish I had your quilt wrapped around me Â it just has that feel about it!

Beautiful quilt, Beverly. I love seeing the pictures of everyone's work, but I hardly ever remember to check the gallery. The decorative stitching is an extra nice touch.

I love the yellow and black together. When you did the decorative stitching did you sew it directly or did you use a stabilizer of some sort?
